Hawk Happenings
August 24th - 28th
READY, SET, GROW! WELCOME BACK!
Here's what's happening at Spring Lake....
On Friday, a gas leak due to road construction in our area made it so that we couldn't go outside throughout the day. Most teachers didn't get their lunch break and instead supervised students in classrooms. There wasn't a single complaint. Everyone just jumped in to help and make the best of what was a somewhat stressful situation. I am proud to announce that even though it was spaghetti and meatball day, not a single bit of it ended up on the floor. Mr. Probst was impressed!
This week we will welcome back our KINDERGARTEN students! School begins for them on Wednesday the 26th. For those who are new to our school, we want to let parents know that our teachers will walk students out to the front kindergarten drop off area and wait with them until they are picked up by parents or safely loaded on the bus. Bus students will be given a sticker that indicates their bus number (with a corresponding shape and color). Please help them learn their bus number and color. We will personally walk kindergarten students to the bus after school and will also allow older siblings to leave a minute early to help their kindergarten brother or sister.
The PTA will be selling masks ($5) and lanyards ($1) on Monday before and after school. Anyone who sent money on Friday will be given their merchandise on Monday.
We want to encourage parents to PLEASE BE SURE YOUR CHILD BRINGS A REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE EVERY DAY! Last week we went through 4 cases of water bottles in three days because of children showing up without one. We will no longer be able to provide disposable water bottles to students who forget. Instead, they will be given a small cup they will have to use.
If you have any extra reusable water bottles at your house that you are not using and wouldn't mind donating, please sent them to the front office. We will share them with students who don't have one or who have been coming without one.
We are looking forward to another great week! Thank you for your support as we begin this historic school year.
Best regards,
Mrs. Jordan
