Clark Weekly News (9/16/24)
Growing Together
A note from your Principal
There is a lot a-buzz around the school as we near the official beginning of fall this weekend and wrap up a very full moon. Many student activities are in full swing and making plans for fun and service events. It's not too late to join in! Our parents are also getting busy preparing for bingo night Nov. 1. Hint, hint, we need your help! (Flyer below).
Though a lot of fun is happening, we also need to remember that there's a time to play and a time to be focused on academics. We are seeing a lot more studying and peer tutoring since interims went out and that's great! Keep focused on your goals and ask yourself regularly, "Is what I am doing today going to get me closer to wear I want to be?"
In gratitude always,
Dr. Judd

Weekly Tidbits- 9/2-9/6
Today is Make a difference Monday. Make a difference by being kind and respectful of fellow students every day!
Today is Take Care Tuesday and an easy way to take care of your mental health is to show kindness. There’s scientific proof that kindness helps the brain age more slowly and improve mental agility…. That means being able to think fast and come up with solutions to problems more easily.
Today is Way to Go Wednesday and we want to shout out a student who was nominated by a parent volunteer for collecting trash, especially Starbucks cups, that students left sitting around last week. Thanks Lillian Lewis for this act of citizenship on campus.
Today is Think About It Thursday. Since it is Constitution Week, did you know The U.S. Constitution is the oldest written national constitution in existence. Think about why that is important to us today.
Today is Fun Fact Friday and the end of Constitution week. Did you know Jonathan Dayton, aged 26, was the youngest to sign the Constitution, while Benjamin Franklin, aged 81, was the oldest.
All things technology
Technology Coordinator: Mr. Watson cwatson1@irsc.edu
IRSC email issues/ password resets- As shared previously, only STUDENTS can request a password reset and no one at Clark has the credentials to help. Students MUST email Info@irsc.edu with their name, date of birth, IRSC Student ID number, or IRSC RiverMail email to request a password reset for their MyPioneerPortal accounts. Parents, guardians, or representatives of the student are not permitted to request a password reset on behalf of the student. This underscores the student's responsibility as the account holder. Thank you. Indian River State College Student Communications Center

All things safety and behavioral expectations
Full handbook and code of conduct:
Safety reminder- p. 14 of our handbook states, "Headphones/ear buds must be used by any student playing audio within the common areas. For safety reasons, only 1 earbud may be used." We have given several warnings, but ongoing defiance with this will lead to referrals and consequences, including confiscation.
Student ID cards- Cards will be active from 7:00 am- 3:00 pm when school is in session. It is imperative that you have your ID on you at all times as this is a key to the building, used for textbooks check out, scanning into FOCUS if tardy, and more. Report lost ID cards IMMEDIATELY to the front office.
Students SHOULD NEVER take photos of or video of ANY students or staff without their explicit permission. Beyond being a violation of our code of conduct, it could potentially also be a criminal offense. Having your cellphone on campus is a privilege. If you use it inappropriately (taking unauthorized photos, posting unauthorized photos or video to social media) on campus you may be required to turn it in and pick it up at the end of each day.
