TXVSN
TXVSN ONLINE HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT SUMMER COURSES
WHO CAN TAKE: current 8th – 11th graders
WHAT IT IS: Texas Virtual School Network (TxVSN) courses for high school credit over the summer
WHEN TO SIGN UP: Prior to May 23 – last day of school (realizing this is late to push out, but we’ve always set this date as it is so much easier to access our kids and teachers – for teacher evals – before school is out!)
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: Please share the following things with the current 8th – 11th grade students/parents:
STUDENT SELF-ASSESSMENT (required to be completed)
TEACHER EVALUATION (2 required to be completed)
WHERE CAN ALL THIS BE FOUND: This district counseling/TxVSN webpage also has all of this information; however, the video for 2024 is not embedded there yet! It is still the video from 2023 – just FYI… it will be replaced tomorrow morning!
WHAT IS THE COST: Families will be responsible for paying the cost of summer courses, which range from roughly $250 - $400 per half-credit course. They will pay through InTouch and MUST pay prior to beginning their course!! If they do not pay prior to beginning their course, they will be DROPPED!! Free/Reduced Lunch students can get assistance for the cost, as needed.
Bus Service for 24-25 School Year 🚌
MMS will have bike racks available for those students coming from Morningstar!! 🚲
Aledo ISD has been getting questions from the community regarding bus service from the Morningstar neighborhood to McKinney Elementary and McAnally Middle School for the 2024-2025 school year. We understand that this is an area of concern, and we hope giving you this information now will help you plan for the school year ahead.
Upon the completion of McKinney Elementary, there will be a continuous sidewalk from Nightmist Road that connects the Morningstar neighborhood to McKinney Elementary through to McAnally Middle School. The district has a policy that students who live within two miles of the campus in a non-hazardous traffic area will not be provided transportation. For example, the district does not provide bus service for students living in the Walsh neighborhood who attend Walsh Elementary. This means that there will be no transportation provided to students who live in Morningstar to either McKinney Elementary or McAnally Middle School since both lie within that two-mile limit. The district will continue to provide bus service from Morningstar to Aledo High School/Daniel Ninth Grade Campus.
The exception to this is special needs students whose ARD paperwork includes transportation.
Please review the map below to view the continuous sidewalk that is highlighted in yellow. The district made sure to build this continuous sidewalk connecting these properties so our schoolchildren who live in the Morningstar neighborhood can bike or walk to their neighborhood elementary and middle schools.
🍔If you purchased in n out tickets be sure to pick them up from Mrs. Sorrell in the main office.
All proceeds will help fund our Bearcat Palooza for all MMS students to celebrate the end of the year!
Attendance Matters + April/May Make Up Opportunities
SEMESTER 2 --> GOAL OF 97%
This year we are working to improve our attendance rates - because if you're not here, you're not learning!
What that means - prioritize school attendance!
What that does not mean - we are NOT encouraging students to come to school sick!
We are monitoring attendance rates for each grading cycle. If your grade level improves your percentage for the cycle - your grade level wins a SURPRISE!!
This Week's Attendance:
- 6th grade --> 97.03%
- 7th grade --> 95.94%
- 8th grade --> 93.47%
- MMS --> 95.57%
Cycle 3 Results:
- 6th grade --> 93.61%
- 7th grade --> 93.82%
- 8th grade --> 94.16%
- MMS --> 93.85%
Celebrations & Surprises will be awarded for grade levels who reach 97%
GOAL for Cycle 4--> 97%+
