Welcome back, staff!
All staff gathered at the Centennial Opening Meeting, a kick-off to the new school year. Our talented marching band and vocal students performed and the event was led by Jimmy Casas, nationally renowned speaker and author known for his powerful message. His insights and stories challenge us to think differently and push ourselves further, keeping students at the center of all that we do.
Out and about in the community this summer!
You may have seen Centennial staff at a community parade--Blue Heron Days and Fete des Lacs; the Centennial Fishing Club shared their love of the sport with youth in the community at the Fleet Farm Fishing Day; thank you for supporting the Food and Truck Fun Festival which benefitted the Community Education Financial Assistance Program.
Free meals for all students
Students can have one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day through the state's Free School Meals for Kids Program. Students purchasing Ala Carte items must have a positive account balance.
Although no application is required to receive the free meals, filling out the Application for Educational Benefits is still important. Your student may qualify for free and reduced benefits such as reduced fees at school. Follow the link to complete the application.
Annual student information review and update
Centennial uses an online method in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal where families update annual information for students such as notifications, agreements, emergency contact information, and communication preferences, etc. This process eliminates the many beginning-of-the-year paper documents that would typically be collected during the first few weeks of school. If you haven't already completed the review, please log in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to review and update the data on file for you as parents/guardians as well as your students, by Friday, September 20, 2024.
Please note: The annual data review is required to be completed before other areas of parent portal are available.
Reminder: Immunization information
Minnesota law requires children enrolled in childcare, early childhood education, or school to be immunized against certain diseases, unless the child is medically or non-medically exempt.
If proper documentation is not provided, students will be unable to attend school after November 1st, 2023. What you need to do:
- Contact your health care provider and review your student’s immunization status to make sure they are up to date.
- If you missed a required vaccination, make an appointment with a healthcare provider or local clinic as soon as possible.
- Follow up with your students’ school if they have reached out to you regarding your student’s immunization status.
- Turn in medical (must be signed by health care provider) and non-medical (must be notarized) exemption forms to your child’s school.
Visit the MDH website for vaccine schedules, exemption forms and more information including where to get free/low cost immunizations today. Please reach out to your student’s school for any questions. Please note, K-12 immunization status is available on Campus Parent Portal.
Helpful website tips
Looking for the attendance form so you can report an absence? Looking for school lunch menus, announcements, and your school's calendar? Check out the Parent Hub on your school website.
A few reminders:
- Each campus has separate websites from the district! Navigate to each of the sites by clicking on the Schools dropdown menu in the top right corner.
- Navigation is a little different than our previous site. Click on the three stacked lines in the upper right-hand corner to view the main navigation. This will be consistent whether you're on a desktop or your mobile device so your navigation experience will be seamless.
- Each school has its own Parent Hub, Student Hub, and Staff Hub which are intended to be a one-stop-shop for all your go-to needs. You can look for important updates and announcements from your school in the Hubs, so be sure to bookmark the Hub page relevant to you!
