Dear SME Parents,

The students at SME will soon start preparing for their upcoming “Spring Sing” Concerts. The concerts will take place on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 in the Gornick Auditorium at Gaylord High School. If there is no school, we will reschedule the concerts on Friday, May 23, 2025. Below is the schedule of concerts:

9:00-9:30am Kindergarten

9:30-10:00am 1st Grade

10:00-10:30am 2nd Grade

10:30-11:00am 3rd Grade

As in the past, we invite you to park in either the main parking lot in back of GHS or at the University Center. Please avoid blocking in other vehicles and park only in designated areas. During the performance, please avoid taking pictures. Students will remain on the stage after the performance to provide the opportunity for group pictures. Students will not be able to leave the stage. Student transportation to and from the concert will be provided by GCS.

All K-3 students should plan to dress in nice concert clothes. After your child’s performance, you are invited to enjoy some refreshments provided by the South Maple Elementary PTO. Refreshments will be set up in the main commons area at GHS.

South Maple Elementary will be accepting Parent Placement Input Forms April 21- May 2nd. The form is available via the following link: 2025-2026 Parent Placement Input Form

Please note: While all forms will be considered, they cannot be guaranteed. Placements will be based primarily on students’ needs, class size, and creating balanced classes. Additionally, there is always the possibility that teachers will not stay in the same positions or teaching teams from year to year.

• We Can Be Responsible for What We Say by Using I Care Language

For the safety of our students, parents need to select bussing, front pick-up, gym pick-up or latchkey as the method of departure for their children to follow at dismissal. If a parent needs to make a change to this daily routine a phone call must be made directly to the school office before 1:30PM on the day of the change. If the office does not receive information of a change, then the child will go home as scheduled.

    • As many of you are aware morning and afternoon traffic is very congested in our area. Please drive safely and follow traffic laws
