Pomerado is a great place to learn and work and we are excited to announce opportunities to join the team!

We are hiring for the following positions:

• Noon Duty, 15 hours per week
• Instructional Assistant, 30 hours per week
• Crossing Guard, 5 hours per week

Friendly reminder! Spring portrait orders or returns were due on 4/25. If you have not already, please return your order and/or any unpurchased photos to the school office as soon as possible. A portion of all orders placed will be donated back to our school!

Parents: Please feel free to spread the word. This is a great opportunity to see our Pomerado alumni walk through the halls where it all began at their elementary school.

Overdue Books & Library Fines

Our library is now closed and all books were due last week. At this time, any books not turned in have been marked as lost and fines have been assessed to student accounts. Please be sure to check your email inbox and student's backpack for notices regarding library fines. Unpaid fines on students' library accounts do carry over to next year (even if your student is moving on to middle school) and could affect your student's ability to check out books in the fall. Fines will be cleared if missing books are returned before the last day of school.

Chromebook & Charger Collection

All 5th graders will be turning in their Chromebook devices and chargers on Wednesday, May 29. Each student will be issued a brand new Chromebook and charger at the start of 6th grade.

If you have a 3rd or 4th grade student that is transferring to a non-PUSD school in the fall, we will need to collect your student's Chromebook and charger no later than Monday, June 3.

Summer Reading

Don't forget that students can enjoy PUSD's OverDrive eBook Shelf or the Sora App all year round! Students can access ebooks with their PUSD student ID and four-digit password. Please click here to learn how you can add the SD County Library children's collection to your Sora App!

Students are also encouraged to visit their local libraries this summer for lots of fun and free activities, summer reading incentives, and a quiet, cool place to relax with a good book! Click here for a sneak peek at what's happening at the Poway Library!

Congratulations

A very big congrats and thank you to our very own parent and PAWs president-to-be, Suzette Lam, for becoming one of the district's volunteers of the year. Suzette has been an instrumental part of PAWs this year and we couldn't have brought so many amazing events to the school without her help and inspiration.

Yearbooks

Yearbooks have arrived and they will be distributed to students on Monday, June 3rd!

PAWS 2024/2025

We are already working on planning and organizing events for the 2024/2025 school year!

We are still in need of a 5th grade parent or parents to become our leads for 5th grade boosters as well as a Room Parent Coordinator to help streamline communication between the classrooms.

PAWs

PUSD is excited to share that a new District Elementary Visual and Performing Arts K-5 program will launch in the 2024-2025 school year.

How will it work?

A team of teachers will visit each school site to teach lessons in the classrooms in the five VAPA disciplines: Music, Dance, Visual Arts, Theater, and Media Arts. The lessons and activities will incorporate best instructional practices, will include global languages and culture, and will be developed through collaboration with VAPA experts from the District and community. This innovative approach will enable students at every elementary school to engage with the VAPA standards in creative and expressive ways, making arts learning more relevant, enjoyable, and impactful. PUSD’s new Elementary VAPA program is made possible through Prop 28 funds.
