As we move into September, we'd like to make you aware of all the great activities coming up.
Seniors, your first round of graduation activities begin on September 11th when Herff Jones will be here to measure you for your cap and gown. To learn everything you need to know and download a handy checklist to keep you on track, please click here.

Experiential Education describes all opportunities offered to students to give them a chance to explore the world of careers and professions. These include classes like Dual Credit Student Internship, Business INCubator, and Geometry in Construction as well as career treks and featured guest speakers.
Student Interns Practice the Gift of the Gab
Young people have endless resources to learn about the careers that interest them, but where do they learn how to ask questions, thoughtful responses, or simply just talk?
This is where the Question and Answer Day comes in handy! Placed strategically the day before they are to begin their on-site internship experiences, this event gathers a team of school administrators and non-instructional staff to coach our students in the development of this valuable skill.
Here’s how it goes: Two students are paired with a staff member. One student is responsible for asking questions, the other is there to observe. After the initial greeting, the student is responsible for asking questions about this person’s role in the building. The prompts are general at first (“what is your job title”) and gradually become more specific as the conversation continues. The student is solely responsible for filling any moments of silence, which gives them the confidence they’ll need to have similar conversations with their on-site mentors.
“My favorite part was when I was just about to wrap up a conversation with one of the education internship students,” said Mike Souza, Associate Principal of Operations. “She pulled out a list of ideas that she wanted to make sure that she wanted to share,” he added. “It showed me that she was prepared for the conversation and really excited about her internship”.
Julie Hupp, Occupational Therapist for Districts 120, 75, and the Transition Center, had a similarly positive reaction. “That was amazing,” she shared. “You are doing such great things”.
As you can see from the smiles and interactions in the photos below, everyone enjoyed the experience.
Check out this promo video that captures the spirit of the experiential education program here at Mundelein High School. Your epic future awaits, Mustangs!

It has been a busy week for MHS volleyball! Last week’s Red-Grey Scrimmage was a success with record crowds attending. All teams played tough, exciting volleyball. Then on Saturday, the entire Mustang program spent the morning volunteering at the Mundelein Farmer’s Market. It was a beautiful day and was so much fun working with future Mustangs in the community! After playing our first match against Deerfield this past Wednesday, Varsity heads to the Crosstown Classic, JV goes to Grant for a Quad, Freshman A heads to Barrington for an Invite, and Freshman B goes to Vernon Hills for a Quad this weekend.
Mark your calendars for September 18th for our home opener against Stevenson High School! Come out and support Mustang Volleyball!
