Lindbergh Gifted eNote
August 25, 2024
It was a great first week for our PEGS programs and middle school LEAP. We are excited to welcome our elementary LEAPers to the Idea Center this week for their first week of classes!
It's going to be hot this week. Feel free to send your child with a hat or sun visor and don't forget the water bottle!
REMINDER: PEGS is our all day, everyday gifted program that students attend as their full time school. This is an application based program. LEAP is our gifted enrichment program. Students are screened and then tested into this program. Elementary students attend LEAP one day a week based on grade level (5th grade-Mondays; 4th grade-Tuesdays; 3rd grade-Wednesdays; 1st/2nd grade--Thursdays). Middle school students attend on a rotating schedule with their physical education class. High school gifted students have access to two gifted resource teachers, gifted learning labs, and a LEAP Innovators class. If you're not sure what program your child is in, please reach out to Cathie Page at 314-729-2495.

Idea Center
Medication Reminder
All medication must be turned into Ms. Navarro, our health room assistant, in person, in original packaging with the doctor's instruction.
If you haven't already, please review the following playground rules with your child.
Idea Center GaGa Pit Rules & Norms
Enter & exit carefully at the designated spot. Do not just jump over the side.
15 players may be in at a time. Waiting players line up along the fence.
Players start inside the pit, touching the wall. One player throws the ball in the air. As it bounces, players yell “Ga” for each of the first 2 bounces, then the game begins (“ Ga Ga Go!”).
Players hit the ball with one hand, but may not catch it or pick it up.
If the ball touches a player anywhere at the knee or below, that player is out.
Players may not touch the ball 2 times in a row. It must hit the wall or another player in between.
If the ball goes out of the pit, the last player to touch it is out.
Players who are out must exit the pit immediately.
The last player left wins & starts the next game
Play fair & be agreeable. The adults will help in disputes & their ruling is final. Arguing = being excluded from GaGa for at least the rest of that recess.
4-Square Rules
I encourage you to watch the following video with your child: https://www.playworks.org/game-library/foursquare/
- GAME RULES:
- Server (King) must put one foot behind the service line
- Everyone must Hit UNDERHAND
- Ball must bounce ONCE and only ONCE in your square before your strike it (including on the serve)
- If someone makes a mistake you rotate up and that person goes to the back of the line (outside the #1 square)
- Server takes care of any arguments (unless it involves the server – then vote as a group, or play rock paper scissors)
- Inside lines are out, Outside lines are in
- Why? Because inside lines are shared, while outside lines are not shared so you know who’s square it bounced in.
- You can move anywhere outside the square or in your section of the square
- If it bounces in your square you MUST strike it
- Server Must Ask “Are you Ready” before serving
- No Carrying, Stalling or Holding – you must Strike or Hit the ball
- Just to Clarify… You are out if…
- The ball in your square bounces 2 times or you hit it before it bounces
- You hit the ball out of bounds
- You hit the ball and it hits an inside line
- You hit the ball Overhand
- You hit a ball that was another players ball (it bounced in their square and you hit it before it bounced a 2nd time)
- A ball bounces in your square an you are unable to get to it before it bounces a second time
Please also review the playground rules in the behavior matrix. Due to the smaller size of our playground, we are NOW a no-kicking playground. Students may use balls for 4-square or catch.
PEGS students often go to the LHS athletic field on Fridays to play kicking games like soccer.

Call for Speakers
At our monthly assemblies this year we would like to feature people working in various careers to talk about how they use the Lindbergh Life Success Skills at their job. They can focus on one skill or talk about multiple skills. The skills are: critical thinking, creativity, integrity, inclusiveness, communication, collaboration, identity, agency, work ethic, and effort. These assemblies are generally on Friday afternoons, but we can be flexible with scheduling. These assemblies will have a dual purpose of introducing students to various careers while also highlighting the importance of life success skills.
If you're interested or know someone who would be, please reach out to me (tracybednarick@lindberghschools.ws). Thank you!

2024-25 Student Board Representative Advisory Group - Apply Today!
Hello! My name is Lara Pimentel and I am serving as the Student Representative for Lindbergh’s Board of Education for the 2024-25 school year. Representing students from across our district is important to me because I want to ensure that students get a say in their education experience. That is why I am looking for students currently in grades 4-8 to participate in next year’s Student Board Representative Advisory group.
Each month, I will visit a different school in the district and talk to a small group of students. These short meetings take place during the school day for elementary schools, and directly after school for middle schools. In these meetings, I ask questions to the group of students and gather feedback regarding their experiences at Lindbergh. We look at what our schools are doing well and which areas could be improved upon.
From there, I share key information with the Board of Education and provide suggestions on ways to address student concerns.
So, if you are interested in representing your classmates, please fill out this form before Friday, Sept. 6!
