DimensionU is a mass multiplayer online game targeted at school systems. The games include both mathmatics and literacy programs for elementary, middle school, and high school students. The DimensionU learning system can help engage students allowing the teacher to add their own pedagogical approach.
PRO's of DimensionU
It is a closed group. Students are given a password that is created by teacher.
It has video game quality graphics to engage the student and give it an up to date apperance to give it relevance to today's user.
Has a scoring purpose. This adds to overall game and gives it a competitiveness needed for today's gaming enthusiasm.
CON'S of DimensionU
No Chatting. Students playing in different locations must use cell phones to communicate.
Currently only supported on PC's.
Expensive. Price is $20 per student. Cheapest site license is $995 for 125 students.
School implementations
A gaming club- at Hudson Middle a gaming club was formed and DimensionU will be used to integrated technology with math and ela common core goals.
Used as a supplement to our math and ela classes to reinforce subject matter and to engage students in alternative ways.
