Waterville Elementary
What's Happening in Waterville
Field Trips: We are going to start having more elementary field trips in the fall rather than the spring, due to the busy spring schedule and lack of bussing for activities. With that said, our 2nd graders will have their field trip this Thursday. They will be visiting the Flint Hills Discovery Center in Manhattan. The 1st grade field trip will be Friday, October 25th.
Early Childhood Screening: The Marshall County Special Services Coop will be holding an "Early Childhood Screening" on Friday, October 18th at Waterville Elementary. Screening is available for children from ages 3 to 5. Screenings are free of charge. If you have a child or know of someone who has a child that is experiencing difficulty in walking, talking, seeing, hearing, or learning, please make an appointment to have the child seen at the screening. Screenings take about an hour and are conducted by qualified professionals by appointment only. Appointments for children age 3 to 5 may be made by calling the Marshall County Special Services Coop office at 785-562-5308 option 2, or emailing jgurtler@usd364.org.
Kindergarten Family Fun Night! Save the date for our kindergarten family fun night! It will be on Thursday, October 24th. Kindergarten students and their parents are invited to have a night of fun! We will have babysitting available for siblings. An RSVP will be sent out soon.

Blue Rapids Elementary
It's all blue skies in Blue Rapids
It was a good week at Blue Rapids elementary. Parents, we want to thank you for your outstanding attendance at Student Success meetings this past week. As a school, we love partnering with parents in educating the children and youth of Valley Heights and you showing up shows us that you want to partner with us!! Next week, other than the exciting lessons that the teachers have prepared, we do not have a lot going on. Do take note that Friday, October 18th there is a half day of school. Students will eat lunch at school and be dismissed at 12:30 PM. On Monday October 21st there will be NO School for students as the teachers will be having an In-service day.

3rd-6th Grade Penny War
The 6th grade leadership is doing a penny war until October 17th between each grade to raise money for picnic tables for the playground area. Each penny counts as a point; nickels, dimes, quarters and bills take away from each classes' points. The winning grade will face off in a Kickball game on October 18th. Good luck everyone!

We’d like to remind families to discuss a safe route to school with your students. Whether it is on foot, bike, or a car we want everyone to arrive to and from school safely! For students on foot and bike remember that the safest crossings are at Chestnut & Highway 77 in Blue Rapids and Minnesota & Highway 77 in Waterville.
These crossings are monitored both before and after school.
