LCPS and RRD Event Calendar
We're excited to share the new LCPS and RRD Event Calendar for the 2024-2025 school year! This calendar includes important dates, events, and activities designed to enhance our students' educational experience. Please review it carefully and mark your calendars. We look forward to another fantastic year of learning and community engagement.
This is just an overview for the year. We will continue to share the important dates with times in the section above and more detailed information about events when they are closer.
There may be changes on the calendar throughout the year. We will be sure to update it and put out the changes.
Pokemon Cards
I wanted to inform you of an important change at school regarding Pokémon cards. Due to recent disruptions in classrooms and during recess, we’ve made the decision that students will no longer be allowed to bring Pokémon cards to school.
While we understand that the cards are a source of fun for many students, they have become a distraction from learning and have led to conflicts among students.
Our priority is to maintain a positive and focused learning environment, and we believe this decision will help ensure that students can concentrate on their studies and enjoy school activities without unnecessary distractions.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to create the best possible environment for all students.
Recognitions or Celebrations in the Month of September
National Hispanic Heritage Month - September
The month-long celebration from September 15 to October 15 allows us to celebrate and honor the history, culture, and influence of past generations from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
Observing Hispanic Heritage Month is an ideal opportunity for our school and community to recognize and support the amazing work Latinos have done and continue to do in helping our community grow.
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, our students will have awesome classroom opportunities to learn more about Hispanic Americans’ experiences, culture, and contributions that have shaped Latino and American history.
All families can find ways to celebrate Hispanic culture, such as supporting Hispanic-owned businesses, cooking or enjoying Hispanic foods, listening to music from different places in Latin America, or visiting online museums of Hispanic art—as a few examples.
I do hope we all find ways to celebrate!

Drills
I am pleased to inform you that we have successfully conducted both a fire drill and a lockdown drill at school. These drills are an important part of ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff, and I’m proud to say that everyone followed the procedures calmly and efficiently.
Our top priority is keeping our students safe, and practicing these drills regularly helps us all be prepared in case of an emergency. I want to thank our students, staff, and families for their cooperation and support as we continue to maintain a safe and secure learning environment.
Please note that during our scheduled safety drills (e.g., fire drills, lockdown drills), there will be no access to the building. This is to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff as we practice our procedures. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
If you have any questions about our safety procedures, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
