Patriot's Pointe
Greetings Patriot Families,
We will post our 4.5 Week progress reports on Monday, September 9, 2024. Parents, this means we have one week to ensure our students are in good standing in each class. The missing and failing assignments report is sent out each Friday for your review. Please discuss this information with your student and look for pertinent communication from each teacher regarding upcoming assessments, projects, and opportunities for tutorial and remediation.
Our Counseling Team was recognized at the FCS Board Meeting last week for exhibiting outstanding customer service! They have led the charge with increasing our graduation rate, bringing increased college visit opportunities to our students, and remained mission focused relative to increasing our AP/IB course offerings to more students.
Parents we need your help! Beginning this week we will begin issuing parking citations for any student who is parked in our student parking lot without a parking decal. Additionally, we will be issuing citations for any students who are parking their cars in the teacher's parking lot. Information for how to obtain a parking pass can be found below in this newsletter.
Parents, if you have a Junior at Sandy Creek, it's time to register for the PSAT. The PSAT allows students to compete for a National Merit Scholarship and serves as an indicator for how students are likely to perform on the SAT. Additionally, all students are encouraged to apply for State Superintendent Woods' Student Advisory Council. Details are below for how your student can participate in this fantastic opportunity and gain invaluable leadership experience working with the top educators in our state.
Congratulations to our Varsity Volleyball team as they celebrated our annual Pink Out Night and defeated Westlake on Wednesday night! Our Varsity Football team triumphed over LaGrange on Friday night, 27-7! We have a bye week this Friday so our team will be getting some much needed rest after a hard fought win. Varsity Softball will be back in action this week at home against Troup County. A good time was had by all at the Jenkins Road Jam and we had an opportunity to engage with our community partners like the NAACP, the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. facilitated a voter registration drive, and plenty of food offerings from our local vendors.
We are excited to support our students in their academic endeavors while providing them with a Competitive Advantage!

Parent Drop Off Procedures
Teachers and Staff please note the change in our new pick up and drop off locations. We are making this change to separate parents from student drivers and to ensure that students can safely cross the street to gain access into the building. All students will need to utilize the sidewalk and remain on that path to enter into the cafeteria. We have asked that parents not park their cars in any of the parking spaces so that our teachers can park their cars and arrive on time to work. We appreciate your support and patience!

Raiders
Our cadets showed up at 0500 to travel an hour to Etowah High School. Our 2 males teams and 1 female competed against 59 other teams from 32 other schools, and it was an amazing day. Our Raiders growth has been tremendous with more cadets joining every week. For most of our teams this was their first Raiders meet and experience. This is champion level Raiders in the making. Thank you for all your support.

Georgia Tech Women in Engineering
The Georgia Tech Women in Engineering Program is excited to announce that registration is open for our annual Engineering Career Conference (ECC) – our STEM outreach program for young women who are current junior and senior high school students!
ECC is designed to give high school girls knowledge and information about the eleven engineering disciplines offered at Georgia Tech to help them decide if they'd like to study engineering in college, and, if so, which type of engineering is best for them.
This year's ECC will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 8:30AM to 4:30PM in Georgia Tech’s Exhibition Hall.
Over the course of a day, prospective female students have the opportunity to hear directly from Georgia Tech's world-renowned faculty and current Tech students about the various engineering majors offered at GT. In addition, attendees have the chance to meet with a GT Admissions Counselor to find out about the admissions process and the academic requirements necessary to be successful in the engineering undergraduate programs.
The non-refundable registration fee for ECC is $40, which covers all materials as well as breakfast and lunch for all attendees of the program; need based scholarships are available and we encourage all students to apply.
The application link may be found here. There is also a QR code in the attached flyer so students! Applications will be open until September 15th.
If teachers are interested in bringing a group of students, students will need to register individually, and note the teacher’s name as their chaperone. We can only accommodate 1 group of 10 per school, with 1 teacher as a chaperone. Teachers ARE NOT able to register on student’s behalf.
Free College Essay Help with Notable Narratives!
About Notable Narratives:
NN is a 501 (c)(3) college essay service organization that provides completely free college essay editing services to first generation and/or low income (FGLI) high school seniors applying to college. We do this by pairing college applicants with FGLI college students, as having an advisor that comes from a similar background will allow students to feel more comfortable receiving help
Since our founding in August 2020:
Our 90 FGLI college advisors have assisted over 1,750 students from 102 unique countries and all 50 states.
1 in 4 students who filled out our annual survey were accepted into an Ivy League or Stanford University.
94% of our students were BIPOC, and 50% identified as both first-generation and low-income.
We encourage you to read more about our impact through our Impact Report, website, and Instagram. We are excited to help even more students this year!
Next Steps:
Attached is a Registration Form for you to share with your students. NN’s services are available to those who self-identify as low income and/or first generation; students do not need to identify as both to apply. I will also be sending this resource to the SCHS counselors.

Parent Square
The Campus Parent portal is your source for student and family records, including household and individual contact information, attendance, school-based fees, academic planning (high school), forms, and report cards. The Parent portal also provides access to the GaDOE SLDS Portal. Please set up the parent Infinite Campus account first. The same username will be shared with Schoology to set up your parent account in Schoology. Because each login reflects the person associated with the username, it is recommended that a separate account is created for each parent.
- Usernames can be comprised of letters, numbers, the underscore, and dash.
- Please refrain from creating a username that is all numbers, as that will interfere with student data here in our district.
- After completing the setup of your parent portal account, please allow 24 hours for your new account information to be sent to Schoology before attempting to log into your Schoology parent account.

The Infinite Campus app is available in the App Store and Google Play.
Leadership program for young men
My name is Marcus Broadhead and I am the Dir. of Educational Activities for the Sigma Omicron Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, which serves Fayette and Coweta Counties. We provide a leadership program for young men and are about to begin programming for this fraternal year.
Over the past two years we have been working with young men from Fayette County High School and are opening up the opportunity to more high schools in the area. Our chapter brother Hon. Derrick Jackson has roots with Sandy Creek so it made sense for us to extend the opportunity to students you serve.
Our focus is on young men who have the potential but may not see it in themselves or possess the resources to live out their potential. Although we support students who may not be making positive choices, the program is not designed to "fix" them. I share this level of transparency with you because we want all participants to want to be in the program and see the benefit rather than a place where a parent may force them to go. We want there to be a mutual investment.
Scholarship Sponsor
Friends and Family Sponsorship
We have a rich tradition in athletics here at Sandy Creek with more than 10 State Championships in sports such as football, basketball, track, and volleyball.
Our scoreboard was built in 1991 and we are in need of a new board to match our dynamic and talented athletic teams. The vision at Sandy Creek High School is to provide students a competitive advantage in whatever endeavor they choose after high school. With your assistance we can help the students prepare for those endeavors while branding your business and supporting our community. Please view the information attached about the sponsorship and digital scoreboard.
We would like to recognize our FIRST Family Sponsor, The Harvey Family! The Harvey Family has donated $1,000 to our scoreboard fundraiser and we are hoping you can match or double their contribution soon! Who will be next to accept the challenge????
Corporate Sponsorship
SCHS hopes that your company would be interested in becoming a premier sponsor for our digital scoreboard program! Choose from one of four value packages below to present your brand and message to students and fans within your community while supporting the schools and helping fund a platform that provides real career opportunities for students
