Maverick Monthly: February 2025

Welcome from Superintendent Jeremy Williams
In addition to sports, our talented musicians are preparing for concerts and having some outstanding performances. These performances are a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their musical talents and dedication, and we invite all families to join us in celebrating their hard work. This month, the band had great success at the UIL Regional Solo and Ensemble contest, and the jazz band held a concert at the band hall, featuring student-led groups.
In our CTE department, students are busy with Supervised Agricultural Experiences, Career Development Events, and various other activities that give them career knowledge they will need to succeed. Students put the skills they developed in the classroom to work, integrating math and writing into projects like floral and welding certification projects as well as horticulture science projects. Eastland FCCLA is preparing for their regional competition in Waco. The students have been working vigorously on their projects for competition, ranging from quilting to community service. We are exceedingly proud of the work and dedication our students and their families put into all of their work, and are excited to see how future events go.
Academically, our students continue to make great strides. While end-of-year testing is still months away, our staff is ensuring that all students are well prepared. For our seniors, we look forward to seeing you prepare to move on with further education or careers, wherever you feel called to go. Moving into March, we look forward to a vibrant spring season full of achievement, growth, and community spirit. Thank you for your continued support of our students and their endeavors!

Mikki Daliege and Michael Li: EMS January Students of the Month!
Mikki Daliege and Michael Li were chosen as Eastland Middle School's January Students of the Month!
Mikki plays for the Lady Mavs in Basketball and Volleyball, and runs both Track and Cross Country. She also plays trumpet for the Middle School Band. She says that her favorite teacher is Mr. Perry, as she really enjoys how he teaches. Mikki says that she'd like to attend Iowa University to pursue a career in Marine Architecture.
Michael is a quiet student who leads through example. He is a favorite of many of his teachers for his dedication to his studies. He plays clarinet for the Middle School Band. His favorite teacher is Mr. Perry, as he says that he is funny and makes the class enjoyable. Outside of class, he likes to play video games, but he notes that he doesn't play for too long. He is currently unsure of what career he would like to pursue, but he would like to do something that keeps him outdoors and makes enough money to pay back his parents for what they've done for him.
Congratulations to both of these outstanding students!

Daila Sadler and Mikey Seabourn were named as the January Students of the Month for Eastland High School at the February School Board Meeting!

Mikey Seabourn is another amazing student athlete, playing Football, Baseball, Basketball, and Tennis for the Mavericks. He is also a section leader in the Eastland Band, and performs with the Theater crew. After graduating from EHS, Mikey plans to complete his basic courses at Cisco College and Ranger College before going to Tarleton State University to pursue an Engineering degree.
Congratulations to these two amazing students!
