Bank of America Student Leaders Community Program
Donnie DeBerry, a Smithfield High School junior, was selected to participate in the 2024 Bank of America Student Leaders® Community Program. This year, Bank of America received more than 7,000 applications, and 315 students were selected for this prestigious honor. As a Student Leader, Donnie will participate in an eight-week paid internship at a local non-profit this summer. Additionally, in July Donnie will travel to Washington, D.C. where Donnie will network with students from across the country and participate in an exciting week of interactive sessions - including meeting Bank of America leaders and government officials and visiting D.C. landmarks. When you see Donnie, please congratulate him on receiving this tremendous honor.

2024-2025 School Calendar and a Snow Day in May
At the March 14 School Board meeting, the board voted to approve a Snow Day in May!
IWCS has time built into the calendar to allow for missed days due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. IWCS has missed very little time this year and, as such, the Board elected to make May 24, the Friday before Memorial Day, a student and staff holiday. The hope is this time will allow students and staff to recharge before entering the final stretch of the school year.
In addition, the School Board approved the 2024-2025 School Calendar. A copy of the calendar is available on the division's website at https://www.iwcs.k12.va.us/apps/pages/school_calendar
