CAMPUS NEWSLETTER - Dec. 2nd

It’s ALWAYS a great day to be a CHAMPION CHARGER!

As we head into the first week of December, and the end of our Fall Semester of 2024, I’d like to take a moment to thank all of our students, teachers, staff, and families for their continued support of Champion High School. I am thankful for the opportunity to share in the successes and challenges we face each and every day. We look forward to the many events and exciting celebrations this week - from basketball games, to a FASFA parent information night, Band's holiday concerts, Orchestra's Blizzard of the Bows, Theater's Little Women performance, Speech/Debate's competition, and the Swim/Dive team's TISCA championships.

We’ve had a recent uptick of reports of vaping on campus. Kudos to our students for reporting this behavior and doing the right thing. Boerne ISD has zero tolerance for vaping. The campus has taken additional measures to ensure students safety at all times throughout the school day. The exterior restroom doors have been removed and monitoring of the restrooms has increased throughout the day by our safety and security team and teachers, to ensure all students are able and comfortable to enter the restrooms at all times. Thank you to all of those who have shown their support for the added measures and to the students who have shown concern for the increasing number of vapes being brought onto their campus.

This week there are many GREAT additional activities happening at CHS!

NATIONAL RECOGNITIONS TO ANNOUNCE!

The National Speech & Debate Association just announced national achievements by several of our very own students. Student competitors earn recognition through points and degrees in the NSDA Honor Society. Each new degree represents hours of learning, practice, and improvement by our student members. A BIG CONGRATS to these students & a SUPER KUDOS to Mr. Reischling for his dedicated coaching. The following degrees were earned at Boerne-Samuel V Champion High School from 11/01 - 11/30:

WELCOME BACK from Thanksgiving Break - Here are your morning announcements: ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB: Environmental Club will hold our December meeting on Wednesday morning at 8am in A233. We will also have recycled ornament making right after school until 4:45 Wednesday in A233. You will earn a service hour for ornament making.

ARCHITECTURE CLUB: Architectural Club will have a mandatory meeting this Thursday from 4-5 pm.

MOVIE CLUB: The Wednesday, Dec 4th, the Movie Club has a meeting in room A213 @ 4:10pm BE THERE You can find out more information on their instagram site @chs_movieclub

PING PONG: Join Ping Pong club, the bestest club at Champion! Starting after school on Wednesdays, come join us for some games! More information is available on the google classroom. Use the QR code in front of Ms. Ratliff's classroom- room B170!

NEHS: The NEHS is collecting new and gently used books through Dec. 3 which will be donated to benefit the Kendall County Women's Shelter. Members can receive .5 service hours for the first 4 books donated. All contributions welcome!

DEBATE: Join our fundraiser at Raising Cane’s! TODAY between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm, mention the CHS Fundraiser at the register and Cane’s will donate 15% of all sales to our CHS Speech and Debate Team.

RED CROSS: The first Red Cross Club Meeting will be held December 13th at 8 AM in the Library

DOOR DECOR: The Christmas Door Decorating Contest has started in your advisory classes! Work on decorating your door to be judged on December 12th. The most festive door will win a hot cocoa bar before we leave for Winter Break!

STUCO: Student Council will host a Christmas Movie Night on Thursday, December 12th, from 6 pm to 10 pm on the Champion High School football field. Bring your own blanket and wear your warmest Christmas PJs! Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase from our CHS Clubs and Organizations. Hope to see you there!

ELF: Did you know we have a campus elf on the shelf? TODAY is the first day that Clara is hiding and our hide and seek will happen every Monday and Friday of this month. Check the student council instagram for where the elf could be and what to do if you find Clara. Happy searching!

WES: Students, this is a reminder that if you need to go to tutoring on Wednesdays (4-6pm), you MUST reserve your spot no later than Tuesday afternoons by using the QR Code published on posters outside the library, on the hallway TV Monitors, and posted in the weekly newsletter.

SATURDAY SCHOOL: There is only one Saturday School in December. If you owe attendance credit hours, make sure you are here. Saturday, Dec. 14th
