IMPORTANT INFORMATION
ENCORE serves students in Kindergarten through 4th Grade on a six day rotation.
Make sure your child wears tennis shoes on gym days!
Remember, your child must return their checked out library book before checking out a new one. Make sure to send their books back to school on their day for class in the library!
This month in the Art room, we are continuing our printmaking projects!
Students made flower matrices last month and will use them to print several flowers this month. Students in 3rd & 4th Grade will learn how to make positive & negative prints using a gelli plate.
We are looking forward to arranging our flower prints & adding some puff paint for visual interest!
2nd Grade students learned printmaking with apples, but are taking a break on their projects to make cookies for their upcoming musical! They will get to finish their printmaking towards the end of the month.
We have just started mARTch Madness this week! All students will have the chance to vote on their favorite artworks from four different art movements in head-to-head matchups. Each week will bring a new round of voting & we will see what CES chooses as their favorite at the beginning of April!

March in the Science Lab is continuing with Earth and Space investigations. We are looking at the ground to observe patterns and systems that cause the slow and rapid changes on the earth’s surface. We are also looking to the sky and the air all around us like Meteorologists to study seasonal and weather patterns and systems. In fourth grade, students are differentiating between weather and climate. We are also going to move beyond our earth and study the solar system and patterns and systems involving the earth, moon and sun.
The key theme with everything is observing patterns and systems on earth and in our solar system. Help your student appreciate what they can see and observe here on earth and in the sky at night. Stay in touch with celestial events like being able to see multiple planets at once last month. NASA.gov has great sky-watching tips.
Scientists always stay curious!

This month in PE we will be celebrating March Madness!
Students will learn what ques to look for while dribbling and shooting the basketball. We will discuss three types of passes: the bounce pass, chest pass and overhead pass and when to use them in a game situation.
Classes will warmup each day with a free throw shooting contest and we will complete our unit with tournament style games.
