Also, if you are planning an MHS reunion, wouldn't it be great to have some of those books available for the event? If interested, books can be purchased at the Mundelein High School bookstore during school hours. If you would like more information about purchases, please contact KC Olson at kolson@d120.org.
September 15 - October 15 - Hispanic Heritage Month
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated each year from September 15 to October 15. It began as a week-long celebration in 1968 under President Johnson and was expanded to a month by President Reagan 20 years later in 1988. The month-long celebration provides more time to properly recognize the significant contributions Hispanic/Latino Americans have made in the United States.
Latinas and Latinos have always held significant roles throughout our country’s history, dating all the way back to the American Revolution. Hispanic Heritage Month is important because it provides an opportunity to celebrate the integral part the Hispanic/Latino community has had in growing and strengthening our democracy.

Saturday at Springfield Lanphier we had some more great performances. The meet also showed us why we need to be flexible, as Izic Miller became a late scratch, and Logan Ramirez had to step up literally at the last second to fill in. Great job, and great attitude, Logan!!
Despite the late change, we took 4th out of a dozen or so teams, led by Elijah Mendoza in 2nd overall. Elijah was only 1 second back and was closing in on the winner every step.
Andrew Weaver was our 2nd man, taking 15th. Elijah ran 54 seconds faster than last year on the same course, and Andrew ran a whopping 1:28 faster! Also medaling were Erick Cordova in 22nd place and Mason McMurray in 27th place, with Aidan Sweet closing out the scoring in 34th.
In the JV race, we were led by James Glaskin-Clay, who medaled in 17th place. Finn Keegan also medaled in 19th place in his best race yet this year. Logan Vale and Advik Sharma narrowly missed out on medals in 21st and 22nd, with Henry Molozaiy rounding out the scoring in 28th.
A number of our other JV runners had really great days. Paolo Amidei ran a 22 second PR on the tough, hilly course while Logan Lozaro had a 33 second PR. The guys who made me happiest though were Sean Ouimet, Rex Hogan, and Sebastian Segura. Sean and Rex stayed together the whole race, helping each other out and encouraging each other, Sebastian Had a rough day, and was feeling terrible, but refused to quit, gutting it out to the very finish in the very hot conditions. Congratulations to them, and all our runners, for their great efforts.
Last night we had our last home meet of the season and celebrated our seniors for their contributions to the program. Thank you Logan Ramirez, Finn Keegan, Adam Hauf, and Sebastian Segura for all your hard work, and your parents for their support. Running as a pack we easily beat Lake Forest and Warren, raising our dual meet record to 4-1. This Saturday we will be competing at the Bill Dawson Warren Invite at the O'Plaine Campus. Hope you can all come out and see us.

With wins against Zion-Benton last week and Grayslake North this week, the Mustang Volleyball program has moved to 7-7 and is still tied for 1st in the North Suburban Conference rankings. Our JV team went undefeated at the Round Lake quad on Tuesday for the second year in a row. What an exciting ride this has been so far! All levels participated in a Program Tournament last weekend with great play at all levels!
Congratulations to “the Sandlers” for winning the tournament! Next week is MHS Homecoming week, and there are several opportunities to see Mustang Volleyball in action! We are at HOME against Wheeling on Monday, September 23, at HOME against Wauconda on Tuesday the 24th, and HOME against Libertyville on Thursday the 26th. We would love to see your school spirit. Let’s go, Mustangs!
