December Edition
Note from the Desk of the Principal
As we approach the end of the first semester, I want to take a moment to express my pride in the incredible progress our students have made. Their hard work and dedication truly shine through!
I am excited to invite you to a special event on December 17th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, where the Children's Museum will be taking over Askew! Join us for an evening filled with family fun, free pizza, and free books. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our community and enjoy some quality time together.
I also want to bring an important matter to your attention. Currently, we are behind in our attendance goal for the school year. Our target is 96%, but we are at 94.5%. This is crucial, as the state of Texas funds schools based on average daily attendance. If we continue on this path, we risk losing $200,000 next school year, which could potentially mean cutting 5 teachers.
Attendance is essential not just for funding, but for the success of our students. Additionally, students with attendance below 90% will be required to attend summer school. Let’s work together to ensure that every child is in school and learning.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. Together, we can make a difference!
Warm regards,
Corey Prados
