

Summer Dyslexia Institute

Join Region 10 ESC for the Summer Dyslexia Institute at the Plano
Event Center. This two-day event focuses on helping Providers of Dyslexia Instruction
(PDIs) Special Educators, and Evaluation personnel acquire the latest information on
dyslexia research, student evaluation, technology and accommodation considerations,
and best practices in instruction. This year’s event will be in person. Engaging
conference-goers and experts from across the Summer Institute highlights building
collaborative partnerships and innovations in instruction for struggling readers. You do
not want to miss these powerful two days of learning.

Keynote Speakers
Dr. David Kilpatrik
David A. Kilpatrick, PhD is a professor emeritus of psychology for the State University of New York College at Cortland. He is a New York State certified school psychologist with 28 years experience in schools. He has been teaching courses in learning disabilities and educational psychology since 1994. David is a reading researcher and the author of two books on reading, Essentials of Assessing, Preventing, and Overcoming Reading Difficulties, and Equipped for Reading Success, and is a co-editor of a third, Reading Development and Difficulties: Bridging the Gap Between Research and Practice.
Jennifer Hasser
Jennifer Hasser is a nationally recognized advocate, author, and trainer in the field of reading, with a particular focus on dyslexia and learning disabilities. A parent of a child with dyslexia, Jennifer has dedicated her career to supporting children and adolescents with learning challenges. She began her passion for education in a high school behavior disorder classroom and was awarded Special Education Teacher of the Year by Georgia State University. Jennifer holds degrees in Education, Political Science, and History, as well as a Masters of Education in Learning Disabilities and Behavior Disorders.
She founded Syllables Learning Center and authored the Kendore Kingdom curriculum (formerly SMART), and currently serves as Executive Director of both Kendore Learning and Syllables Learning Center. Jennifer has trained over a thousand teachers in her curriculum and has helped thousands of students improve their language skills. She is a frequent presenter at dyslexia and reading conferences and provides educational consulting for schools, including designing and implementing RTI plans for public schools.
