CS and STEELS standards crosswalks
Are you looking to integrate Pennsylvania’s new STEELS standards into your computer science curriculum or exploring ways to incorporate CS into your STEELS instruction?
The CSinPA team at PaTTAN has heard concerns from educators about how the newly adopted Pennsylvania Science, Technology & Engineering, Environmental Literacy & Sustainability (STEELS) standards impact CS instruction and learning.
To support educators, PaTTAN has created crosswalks between the STEELS and CS standards.
These crosswalks include two sections that map the connections between STEELS and CSTA K-12 CS standards , helping you find opportunities to integrate CS concepts into your STEELS lessons, and vice versa.
Watch this video to learn more about the updates on how to utilize this resources!
Section 1: How can the CS standards support STEELS standards?
The first section of the crosswalk will allow you to explore how each STEELS standards is supported by the CS Standards. You can filter by STEELS discipline and grade levels.
Next to each STEELS standard, you will find its possible connections to the CS standards
This database may be helpful if you are addressing STEELS standards in your instruction and want to identity opportunities to integrate relevant CS concepts.
Section 2: How can STEELS standards support the CS standards?
The second section of the crosswalk allows you to explore how each of the concepts and subconcepts identified in the CS standards is supported by STEELS standards.
You can filter by CS concepts, subconcepts, and grade levels.
For each CS standard, we have identified the supporting STEELS standards, graded by high, medium, and low alignment.
This database may be helpful if you are addressing the CS standards in your instruction and want to identify some opportunities to integrate relevant STEELS concepts.
Start exploring how you can strengthen both your CS and STEELS lessons today!
We understand that adopting new standards can be overwhelming. Join our CSinPA virtual community of practice to talk to other educators across the state about standards alignment and implementation.
