From Ms. Busing
Dear Lake Windward Families,
Over the past two weeks, we have had some wonderful events that brought our school community together.
Career Day for K-2:
Our youngest students had an exciting time exploring different professions during Career Day. Thank you to all the parents and community members who shared their experiences and inspired our students to dream big!
Walk and Roll to School:
We had a fantastic turnout for our Walk and Roll to School day! It was heartwarming to see so many families participating and promoting healthy habits. A special thank you to our PTO volunteers and Alpharetta High School students who helped ensure everyone arrived safely.
Board Member Community Meeting:
We were honored to host a community meeting with our school board member, Lillie Pozatek. It was a great opportunity for families to engage in meaningful discussions about our district. Your voices are important, and we appreciate everyone who attended.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community!
Your Proud Principal,

Community Meeting Performance
Ms. Autry and Ms. McKean's kindergarten classes performed a song for the community helpers that were in attendance at Ms. Pozatek's community meeting. Thank you, Ms. Kummerfeldt, for making this possible!

Student Success Skills
LWE will be sharing the skill and theme that the student success skills lessons focus on. The skill/standard for our upcoming Student Success Skills lessons over the next two weeks (Oct. 21-Nov. 1) will be self-management and the theme will be “Resilience” and “Self-Control”. We encourage you to take this opportunity to reinforce your child’s learning of being resilient and showing self-control at home, by reviewing the following ideas and tips in the attachment provided.

Parent Perception Survey
Parents/Guardians,
Lake Windward and FCS values feedback from our stakeholders. At Fulton County Schools, we truly value the feedback from our parents about their experiences with the district. That is why I encourage all parents to take the Annual Parent Perception Survey. This survey allows parents the opportunity to tell us what they think about their student’s schools and the district. While we always make it a priority to listen to our parents, this survey affords us another opportunity to receive your thoughts and opinions.
The survey is anonymous and confidential. Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. The survey will remain open from Wednesday, October 16 through Friday, November 22.
Please support our school and the love you have for our teachers, staff, students, and community by taking a few minutes to fill out this FCS survey!

The Annual Perception Survey is currently available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Hindi, and Punjabi. If you or your family would like to take it in a language that is not listed, please email your child’s principal.

Thank you in advance for making your voice heard!

Reminder-upcoming holidays
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the upcoming holidays, it important to remind parents and families that candy, desserts, baked goods (store bought/homemade), or any other edible items are not to be sold or distributed at school or on the bus unless approved in advance by school administration. Per our Student Code of Conduct, students who do not adhere to this expectation are subject to disciplinary action for violation 7A: Failure to Follow Rules and all candy or food items will be confiscated. Please discuss this expectation and possible consequences with your student(s) as this will be taken very seriously. This is due to recent national and state reports about students sharing edible items and synthetic medications with other students that contain very harmful substances.
Please know that taking this measure will help us maintain a safe environment for all students. You can help us protect your student(s) by requesting that they not eat anything given to them by another person, anything that they have not brought from your home or anything not in its original sealed package.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping all of our students safe at school!
