Westmoor Weekly 09/13/24
September 13, 2024
A Note from Principal Eck
Dear Westmoor Families,
We’ve had another fantastic week at Westmoor! Our students are fully immersed in their school routines, and our teachers are delivering rigorous and impactful instruction. Earlier this week, we held our Bulldog Pack Meetings, and I hope you’ve heard all about them. You should have received an introductory letter from your child's pack leader in their backpack.
We’d like to invite you to a Principal's Coffee Meeting on October 1 at 9AM. We'll discuss how our Westmoor staff is dedicated to supporting students and ensuring their success at each grade level. We hope you can join us for this informative session.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to me. Have a wonderful weekend.
Quote of the Week
Each week students may submit a positive quote that captures and motivates their peers to persevere and feel good. We then showcase the quotes throughout the school building. Students may submit a quote, using this link.

Pack Time Helps Build Community
Is it the secret hand signal? A chance to be a leader or learn from a ‘big kid’? Or is it a break in routine and the chance to work with an adult they wouldn’t otherwise know?
The answer is probably all of the above. And one thing is certain: when it’s Pack Day, students are excited, said Social Worker Melina Liontas.
Bulldog Pack Tie-Dye Information - DEADLINE MONDAY!
At our October Pack Meeting, we will tie dye t-shirts as a Pack. Can you please submit your child’s t-shirt size on this Google Form by September 16th so we can ensure all students get the appropriate size? Submit a separate Google Form for each child in your family.
Please send students in clothes that are appropriate for this activity tentatively scheduled for October 8th. We are encouraging students and staff to wear their t-shirts at the monthly Pack meetings for the remainder of the school year.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher.
Thank you!

'Anxious Generation' Community Conversation
WHAT: Community Conversation and Call to Action
WHEN: 7 p.m.Monday, Sept. 30
WHERE: United Methodist Church, 1190 Western Ave., Northbrook
Join us as CATCH leads a Community Conversation and Call to Action about our kids' mental health! There is lots of buzz about Jonathan Haidt's book, "The Anxious Generation," which brings the youth mental health crisis to the forefront. Haidt talks about smartphones, social media, and over-parenting, and he outlines very reasonable steps that we can take to create real change for our kids. We will talk, share our concerns, and discuss actionable next steps to reverse this youth mental health crisis. None of us can do this alone, but we CAN do this together.
