Athlete of the Week
Isabella Tran was nominated by her basketball coach, Mr. Carr. "Isabella Tran MVP of the Norco Tournament and All-Tournament selection of the Norwalk tournament. Isabella is a hard worker on and off the court, and her leadership skills are impeccable. Isabella averages 19.5 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game, 3 assists, and 1 steal. Isabella, aka IZZY, is a joy to be around on and off the court, and as she excels on the court, she also excels in the classroom."
Scholar of the Week
The English Department nominated James Hagiwara. "James Hagiwara is one of the most consistent writers in AP LIT. He incorporates textual evidence well and writes thorough and detailed commentary. In addition, he has a strong work ethic and will always ask for feedback to further improve. James excelled in AP Lang with Ms. Tan, and he is continuing down the same strong path in LIT. As his teacher, I appreciate James's active participation in class and his fun personality, which allows us to talk about things like Haikyu. I look forward to the rest of the school year and the success he will find on the AP Exam!"
Arts Person of the Week
Maribel Martinez nominated Mrs. Taylor. "Maribel is an amazing RAIDER who has taken all 3 of my classes and is currently enrolled in the Senior Seminar. She is interested in working with children in her future - possibly as a teacher. This year, she joined FCCLA and will compete in an event called Focus on Children. She holds a 3.5 GPA and just got accepted to my alma mater - CSU, CHICO! I am so proud of her hard work through the years; the questions she asks me let me know she trusts my opinion and she is the BEST T.A. ever!!"
