2024 - 2025 Testing Information
Third and Fourth Grade Parents - Please read!
Second and Third Grade Parents - See IREAD dates at the bottom.
The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) is piloting three checkpoints for Grades 3-8 in the 2024-25 school year. These checkpoints are a new component of the new ILEARN through-year assessment for English/Language Arts (ELA) and Math, which will be given to all students in Indiana beginning in school year 2025-26.
New Albany-Floyd County Schools will take part in the pilot program this year. The Checkpoints will take place in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. Each checkpoint has 20-25 questions and will show how your child is doing in key skills and concepts from the Indiana Academic Standards. This helps guide teaching and supports your child’s learning.
Second and third graders take IREAD, which is only a reading test and is multiple choice.
Third and fourth graders take the ILEARN Checkpoints and the Summative ILEARN.
Here are the dates. We appreciate you making every effort to make sure your child is at school on these school days to avoid make-ups. Thank you!

Counselor's Corner
This week and next week in guidance, I am discussing bullying, what it is, the different kinds, as well as reporting it to an adult. The powerpoint presentation that I am using is posted on every google classroom for your review. Please talk to your child about what they have learned about bullying.
Thanks to everyone who donated food for the food drive. It was a huge success. If you are a family receiving a food box, please be sure to pick it up Thursday, September 26th between 8 am and 3:30 pm.

Our Scholastic Book Fair is quickly approaching! This year’s fair will be held the week of October 28 - November 1 with special event shopping on October 30 from 5 - 7pm. This event not only provides high-quality reading materials for families to purchase but also serves as a valuable fundraising opportunity for our school. While both the company and our school do our best to vet the books and materials, we recognize that each family has different standards for what is appropriate. To accommodate these varying needs, we are offering three options for participation. Families can take advantage of one or any combination of the three options:
Option 1
In-School Shopping: Students can shop with their class at a scheduled time during the school day and independently select books to purchase. Assigned class times occur during their library class the week of the book fair. Parents are also welcome to join their child at the scheduled shopping time to assist with the selection. If you prefer your child NOT shop independently during the school day, please complete the following Google form:
https://forms.gle/Xc2j3dsUaAhaTpcn9
Option 2
Event Shopping: The book fair will be open October 30 from 5 - 7 pm, allowing parents to shop with their child and help select books to purchase.
Option 3
Online Shopping: Families can shop from home via our online book fair, enabling parents and students to select books together. The link will be available after fall break.
We look forward to seeing you at the book fair and appreciate your support in fostering a love of reading within our school community.
