Dear Muskego Lakes Families,

It is hard to believe we are in the final stretch, and yet the end is in sight for virtual learning for the 2019-20 school year. We know that this has been far from perfect for you and your children, but we hope you know that we've done our very best to keep students engaged as learners despite not being able to be with our students. We've worked extremely hard to do whatever we could to connect with your child, meet your needs as families, and provide additional resources, time, or support. We want to thank you for stepping in during virtual learning to support your child's learning the best you could, and most importantly, thank you for all you've done to keep students feeling safe and loved. We miss them more than we know how to express.

With the school year winding down, we know many of you are looking to the fall and wondering what school will look like for students. Although we have been hard at work as a district administrative team planning for the fall, we do not yet have all of the answers figured out yet. That being said, please review the Muskego-Norway School District Parent FAQ for information regarding our re-entry planning for fall. In addition, more information for families will be in the MNS Monthly Family Newsletter released next week.

On Thursday, June 11th, we will hold our 8th Grade Send Off! It will be a drive through opportunity between 3-6pm for our 8th graders and their families to celebrate our four years with your child! We invited staff to come send off 8th graders, so many of them will be stationed along the route to congratulate our 8th graders and wish them well on their next adventures in high school.

Before heading to MLMS, please put a sign up in the passenger side of your car with your child's first and last name.

As you arrive, you will have a chance to drop off any textbooks, trade books, or anything district items or items that belong to classroom teachers.

For the event, please plan on following the student pick-up/drop off route.

Throughout the route, we do ask that students remain in their vehicles. Along the route there will be stations where items will be handed off to students. These stations will be designated by signs. Please refer to the map linked below for details.

After completing the Send Off Route, families will have the option to loop behind the building for a photo opportunity. There, students and families will have the opportunity to get out of their vehicle and have their photo taken in front of our Muskego Lakes backdrop. Photos will be taken by our very own in-house photographer and emailed to families after the event. The photographer will not be able to handle any other cameras or phones for photos. If families choose not to take a photo, there will be an option to exit the parking lot without joining the line for photos behind the building.

Please do not arrive before 3:00pm to avoid traffic back up on North Cape.

We are excited for the event and can't wait to see our 8th Grade Muskies one more time!

Our 8th graders will get to pick up their yearbooks on Thursday, June 11th from 3-6pm at the 8th Grade Send Off. We will only release yearbooks to 8th graders at that time. All yearbooks ordered for 5th-7th graders can be picked up at Muskego Lakes from 9am-12 or 3-6pm on Friday, June 12th. We will distribute yearbooks to your vehicle in the parent pick-up/drop-off lane. Please arrive with your child's first and last name posted in the passenger window.

If those dates do not work for you, please reach out so we can arrange a later date for pick-up that works for you and your family.

Does your child have any textbooks, school materials, or classroom chapter books that they are no longer using? With June approaching, it is a good time to check in with your child about textbooks and/or school materials. You can drop them off in the main vestibule next Tuesday, June 9th between 7:30am - 3:00pm. Please make sure to leave a note with your child's name on anything you return to us. Thank you!

All ML library books were due June 5th. Books can still be dropped off in the main entrance of Muskego Lakes on Tuesday, June 9th from 7:30am - 3:00pm. Please return books in the marked bin or cart during book pick up. If you need an alternate drop off time, please contact Mrs. Toni. Toni.Heinowski@muskegonorway.org

Many of you have reached out asking how you can get a note or a gift to a member of staff at Muskego Lakes. With yearbook distribution, it likely will be a busy time for families trying to enter and exit. So, if you wish to drop something off, please consider bringing it to school on June 8th and/or June 10th between 8am-2pm. And we will make sure anything dropped off gets to the staff member!

As of now, it is unclear whether or not the Forms and Fees Days, typically held in August, will be in-person or virtual. We will communicate more information regarding Forms and Fees Day as soon as it is available.

We have received feedback from families requesting the key information regarding virtual learning that we highlighted in newsletters be placed on our school website. Great idea! Starting today, you can find it on the home page of the Muskego Lakes site. Scroll down below the large featured photos and you will find it under the heading "District News".

Muskego Lakes Lost & Found

Each year, the Warriors 101 transition program helps support incoming freshmen by facilitating opportunities for them to meet upperclassmen, run through their class schedule, meet their teachers, tour the building, bond with peers, and learn about co-curricular opportunities at the high school. The program is planned for Wednesday, August 26th from 8am-12pm. If the current situation prevents an in-person program, there will be an alternate virtual offering. Please click here to complete registration for your student so you are kept up-to-date with program plans.

We look forward to helping your son/daughter have a smooth transition to the high school. If you have already registered, you do not need to sign up again.

Warriors 101 Promotional Video

Muskego Lakes currently has an opening for an Interventionist for the upcoming school year. If you or someone you know has a teaching license and is looking to work with students part-time, please apply for the position on WECAN.

Make sure to review the Parent FAQ document frequently where you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions during this time. Updates will be highlighted in blue throughout the upcoming weeks. Along with the Parent FAQ document, our school psychologists have created a presentation to provide resources on how to help your children cope with mental health. You will find fact sheets as well as age specific information in the presentation.

There are 30+ Chromebook that were submitted for repairs that are now ready for pick up. If you or your child received an email from the tech department and you would like to pick up your device, you can do that at the Muskego High School Main Entrance every Wednesday from 7:30am - 3:00pm. If you are not comfortable venturing out, your child's device will be stored until further notice.

Did you know that we work with Taher to pack and distribute meals Monday-Friday for our students? Anyone under the age of 18 in your household is welcome to enjoy a breakfast or lunch on us! Please see the link below:
