ESOL PARENT INFORMATIONAL MEETING
RRHS PSAT/SAT
RRHS PSAT/SAT
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 30th, 2024
Dear Parents and Students,
The Cherokee County School District has scheduled Wednesday, October 30, 2024, as a testing day for those taking the PSAT or SAT assessments. RRHS will be administering the following on October 30th:
- PSAT 8/9 for all 9th grade students
- PSAT/NMSQT for all 10th grade students
- PSAT/NMSQT for 11th grade students who have registered
- SAT for 12th grade students who have registered
All students who are participating in testing are expected to report to school at regular start time. Testing room assignments will be emailed to students on Friday, October 25th. Dismissal will be after completion of test administration, with the option for early release. Students who remain on campus after testing will participate in remediation and recovery activities. Those assignments will also be available in Canvas for students who leave after testing.
For students being picked up after early release, designated pick-up locations are marked on the attached map. Buses will run on the regular schedule, with dismissal at 3:15 for those remaining on campus.
October 30th will be a digital day for 11th and 12th-grade students who are not pre-registered for testing. Teachers will post remediation and recovery assignments in Canvas by 8:00 a.m. on October 30th. Please note that all teachers will be assigned to either proctor exams or supervisory duties throughout the day and may not be able to respond to emails immediately.
Students should report directly to their assigned testing room upon arrival to campus. With approximately 1,100 students testing, it is essential that testing start on time. Students arriving late may not be permitted to enter the testing room if the exam has already started. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring a smooth testing day.
If you have any questions or require further assistance, please feel free to contact Mrs. Pamela Costa at pamela.costa@cherokeek12.net.
Thank you,
Pamela Costa, Ed. S
Assistant Principal
IMPORTANT DISMISSAL INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS & PARENTS
· River Ridge High School is allowing ALL students to leave campus after completion of the PSAT/SAT. Students are responsible for having their own transportation to exit campus. Students will NOT be released for dismissal until the exam period is over. Release times will approximately be at 12:30. See map for pick-up location.
· If you would prefer your student stay on campus instead of leaving, please click the link below. Please read and follow the directions before filling out the form. Parents wanting their student(s) to stay after the exam MUST fill out the form. This is important so we can track the students who are staying on campus. If you are fine with your student leaving after the exam you do NOT need to fill out the form. PSAT/SAT EXAM EARLY RELEASE FORM
· We will not dismiss students individually. Dismissal will take place once the test administration for the school is complete. We want to ensure a quiet and distraction-free environment for all test takers. Please be advised that our dismissal may be delayed due to testing procedures and required test administration times.
· Once a student leaves campus, he/she will not be allowed back on campus to ride a bus home. Only students who are present in the afternoon periods will be allowed to ride a bus home.
· Students are not permitted to return to RRHS or any other school campus after they have completed their exam. Students may return to campus for practices/club meeting after 3:15.
· Parents will be responsible for arranging pick-up. Carpooling is permissible. Parents are asked to pick-up students in designated area (see map). Parents, please do not enter building or call front office to check out student. Please be patient and expect delays as releasing students will take some time. Please follow signs and throughout the campus.
· Buses will run on the regular schedule (i.e. 3:15 p.m. dismissal to load buses) for students choosing to remain on campus.

Updated Code of Conduct – Dress Code and Cell Phone Policy
Students - you are doing an amazing job - Keep up the great work. Teachers are thrilled with the increased student engagement!
As described in the many communications from Mr. Miller as well as the Board Briefs sent by Barbara Jacoby, among the changes to the Code of Conduct are consistent standards for appropriate student attire and appropriate student use of cell phones and other personal digital smart devices in schools, classrooms, and on the school bus. More specifics were shared in that communication which is available here, It may also be found here in 2024-2025 Student Code of Conduct or here - Handbook.
LOST AND FOUND
Lost and Found can be located in room 1201 and in the box behind the admin table in the cafeteria. Did you know that our special education department picks up the items through out the school? They wash the clothes and the cups every Friday to have them ready to be claimed😊. Items not claimed will be donated.
REMINDER: MEDICATION
Please keep the nurse informed if your student has an epi pen or inhaler on their person. It is good to know this information in the event of an emergency. Also, please fill out appropriate forms to carry the medication at school.
PLEASE REVIEW MEDIATION POLICY. DO NOT SEND MEDICATION TO SCHOOL WITH your student prescription or OTC in baggy etc. They cannot carry or self-administer! IT MUST BE IN A NEW SEALED BOTTLE OR BLISTER PACK OR THE ORIGINAL PRESCIPTION BOTTLE, CURRENT AND NOT EXPIRED.
