Preschool September Newsletter
Your child deserves the very best!
Greetings Parents
We are off to a great start this school year! Students looked excited as they worked on their crafts, listened to instruction and moved throughout our campus. I also saw some BEE-Notes going home with students already!
If you don’t know what a BEE-Note is, I will explain our "seventwelve" Positive Behavior plan as well as touch on a few topics in this newsletter.

"seventwelve" Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS)
Virginia Academy is dedicated to creating a positive climate with a research-based approach to discipline called Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS). PBIS is an approach for teaching students appropriate behavior and providing the supports necessary to sustain that behavior. The goal of PBIS is to reduce challenging student behavior through a proactive, positive, and consistent manner across all school settings and to improve academic achievement and social competence. At VAA, our key component of PBIS is to teach students to be kind, safe, and responsible by setting the same expectations and using the same terminology across all school settings. These three principles foster a positive learning environment and increase student achievement through positive reinforcement.
BE KIND, BE SAFE, BE RESPONSIBLE, HAVE FUN!
Whenever our teachers or director witnesses a child showing seventwelve behavior, that child will receive a BEE- Note that will be sent home to their parents. Rewards such as collection of 3 notes per student or a class group count could receive a visit to the preschool office for a treat or various other rewards.
Leaping for Literacy!
Here is this month’s student book recommendation! Thank you, Camille Mann - K3!
“Llama Llama Misses Mama” written by Ann Dewdneys.
Written below is some information on this book from Ann's website:
It's Llama Llama's first day of preschool! And Llama Llama's mama makes sure he's ready. They meet the teachers. See the other children. Look at all the books and games. But then it's time for Mama to leave. And suddenly Llama Llama isn't so excited anymore. Will Mama Llama come back? Of course, she will. But before she does, the other children show Llama Llama how much fun school can be!
Send me your child’s favorite book, and I will mention the first book recommendation I receive via email and your child’s name in my next newsletter.
