October 11th & 14th Student Holidays
As a reminder, this Friday, October 11th & Monday, October 14th, 2024 are student holidays for all ALA students. The overview of all of our school holidays can always be found on our 2024-2025 Instructional Calendar for ALA Euclid and ALA Tech.
Save the Date: Noche Musical de los Muertos
We are excited to invite you to our 2nd annual Noche Musical de los Muertos, a special PK-12 event celebrating music, culture, and community! Please mark your calendars for Thursday, October 24th. Noche Musical is not only a major fundraising event for PK-12th grade groups & organizations, but it is also an opportunity for families to experience outstanding performances from our mariachi, theater, dance and band programs! Performances will run from 5-9pm, with food and activity booths available from 5-8pm. A preview of the performance lineup can be seen on this flyer. Wristbands will be sold at the door for $5 and food & activity booth tickets will be $1 per ticket. We hope that all ALA families will be able to attend this exciting event!
SAISD Food Distribution
SAISD's next food distribution event in partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank will take place on Saturday, October 19 at 9 a.m. at Steele Montessori Academy located at 2630 Sally Gay Dr., 78223.
SAISD Public Meeting
Join the district for a public meeting about a 2.3-acre tract of land on Camaron Street that is owned by the district. The board is actively discussing the sale of the land as part of a proposed downtown baseball stadium. The board seeks public input to inform its decision. The discussion will be held on Monday, Oct. 7th at 6pm at the SAISD Central Office. See this flyer for additional information. If you are unable to attend the meeting in person, families can click here at the start of the meeting to attend virtually.
Family Field Trip with Mrs. Chrissy
Thank you to all of the families that came out on Saturday to the Monarch Butterfly and Pollinator Festival. We hope that you learned valuable information about pollinators and took the opportunity to socialize with other ALA Families! The November Family Field Trip will be a volunteer opportunity at the San Antonio Food Bank Tuesday, November 26th from 9am-11:30am. Please register through our volunteer link . Any age may volunteer, but any child under 12 will need an adult to support them. Please only register adults and children 12 and older. We have 20 slots reserved for ALA. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Chrissy at cleal2@saisd.net.

1st Grade Field Trip to Magik Theatre
On Wednesday, October 9th our first grade students will visit Magik Theatre for a showing of “Lyric and the Keys" as they launch their PBL exploring the question, “How can we, as storytellers, tell stories that entertain our community?” After the show 1st graders will eat lunch and play at Yanaguana Playground! Parents who would like to join us at the playground should sign up via App Garden.
Little Spot Take Home Kits
During the Gators Are Back RULER session, we previewed some materials available to check out. You can now bring home these social emotional books and activities by filling out this form. Each kit contains a book about an emotion, activity guide, and all supplies needed to complete the activities. Once you fill out the form the kit will be checked out to your child through the library, and sent home with your child.
End of the 1st 9 Weeks
The end of the first 9 weeks is this Friday! Report cards will be sent home the following week and teachers will share a message through Seesaw when they are going home in backpacks so families are aware.
Reminder: Character Book Dress Up Day
We are excited to announce that on October 31st, we will be celebrating Character Book Dress Up Day! This is a fun opportunity for students to dress up as their favorite book characters and bring their stories to life. If your student chooses to participate, please help your student select a costume that represents a character from a book they love. We encourage creativity while keeping costumes simple, school-appropriate and keep costumes from covering their faces. Don’t forget to have your child bring the book that features their character so they can share it with their classmates! We look forward to seeing all the wonderful characters!
