Important changes to be aware of:
Changes in pick up from after school program:
To ensure the safe pick up students by authorized adult guardians or caregivers, the LACC after school program staff will only release students to a parent/guardian with a physical identification card.
Please be sure to have your ID ready when you come to pick up your student from the after school program. This is entirely for the safety of the students and their families. If you hav any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mrs. Mayra at 213-458-6385.
Phone pouch updates
Students were provided pouches to store their electronic devices during the school day. It takes under a minute for students to show their phones in pouches in the morning as they lock and enter campus. On the way out of campus, it takes students an average of 22 seconds to get to an unlocking device and unlock their pouch! Teachers are reporting less disruptions in class due to cell phones being out and having to address the issues during instructional time. We have observed students having more conversations with each other and less students out on campus during class time looking for spaces to use their devices. Students and staff were a little anxious about how the process would work, but we are already seeing a smooth transition to no devices during the day. There have been a few isolated situations where students have had to pay the $30 to replace lost or damaged devices. Students are reminded of the importance of being responsible for keeping track of school issued equipments. Many parents have opted to have students keep devices at home "since students can't use them during the day anyway!"
