Monday, April 17 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:30 pm at Hadley Jr. High

Friday, April 28 - SIP Day - 1st through 8th grade early dismissal at 11:30 a.m. Pre-K and Kindergarten students do not attend school.

D41 BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTION RESULTS

According to the unofficial election results, the candidates with the highest number of votes are Julie Hill, Jess Buttimer and Ted Estes. The new Board of Education members will be welcomed to the Board and Board officers will be selected at the upcoming May 1 Board of Education Special Reorganization meeting.

We Recognize Our Great School Administrators During Assistant Principals Week!

Welcome To New Churchill Principal Amanda Kanter

District 41 is pleased to announce that the Board of Education approved the appointment of Amanda Kanter as the next Principal for Churchill Elementary School. The appointment is effective July 1, 2023. Mrs. Amanda Kanter currently serves as Assistant Principal at Winston Churchill Elementary School in Schaumburg School District 54. For more CLICK HERE.

Preschool Registration Now Open

The District 41 Preschool Program immerses children in a play-based, student-centered environment to maximize student learning, growth and development. Daily instruction targets all areas of development with a strong focus on literacy, math, language and social-emotional development. The classroom experience engages 3-5 year old children of all abilities, to thrive in an academic setting for a lifelong passion of learning.

Click here on or after April 5 to register! Your child must complete a preschool screener before they are eligible to start. Deadline to register is July 14 to start on the first day of Pre-k. If registration is completed after July 14th, students may start after the first day of school.

Program Details

Tuition is $250 per month
Offered to all families residing within the D41 boundaries
Tuition waivers for families in need based on the severity of risk factors and space availability
Bus transportation may be available for some (ask for details during registration)
Service providers work within classrooms, e.g. Speech, Occupational therapy, Physical therapy, and Social work
Special education supports and services available based on each student's individual need

Two sections offered daily (8:50am - 11:20 am and 12:40pm - 3:10pm)

"Change Distress to De-Stress" event at Hadley with Dr. Kymberly Larson

Author Ryan T. Higgins Visits Ben Franklin

New York Times best-selling author Ryan T. Higgins paid a visit to the students at Ben Franklin this week. Students created fun character masks to welcome Mr. Higgins.

HADLEY ORCHESTRA ATTENDS WHEATON COLLEGE FESTIVAL

The 8th grade Hadley Orchestra had the amazing opportunity to attend the Wheaton College Festival in Armerding Performance Hall at Wheaton College Music Conservatory last week. At the beginning of the clinic, Dr. Benjamin Klemme (Wheaton College Music Professor & Wheaton Symphony Orchestra Conductor), addressed and welcomed the students. Guest clinician, Mrs. Joanne May, retired Assistant Professor of Music Education and Director of Orchestras at Elmhurst University & retired Glenbard East High School Orchestra Director, assisted the orchestra with various musical concepts by enhancing and advancing their performance skills. Dr. Michael Wilder (Dean of Wheaton Music Conservatory), welcomed our ensemble. At the end of the clinic, the students were able to have a tour of the music facility by Ms. Rhonda Sisson (Wheaton College Music Recruitment Manager).

Thank you to Hadley Principal Steve Diveley, Mrs. Joanne May, Dr. Michael Wilder (Dean of Wheaton Music Conservatory), Dr. Benjamin Klemme (Wheaton College Music Professor & Wheaton Symphony Orchestra Conductor) and Ms. Rhonda Sisson (Wheaton College Music Recruitment Manager) for providing this memorable experience for our Hadley Orchestra students. Another special thank you goes to the DuPage Foundation for sponsoring our clinician, Mrs. Joanne May and to all the parents that helped chaperone and assisted our orchestra for this special event.

Ms. Georgia Alemis, Hadley Orchestra Director stated, "I was so proud of the tenacity and teamwork that the students put forth during this clinic. They acted with such maturity and professionalism. This field trip provided the opportunity for our students to enhance their knowledge and to explore the possibilities that lie ahead of them if they choose the pathway of music at the collegiate level. Way to go Hadley String Orchestra!"
