DCAMPIMPACT 2023
Getting Ready
Last minute thoughts & reminders
Counselors, as we countdown to DCAMPIMPACT 2023, I want to pastor you with some few words of reminder and a few things of encouragement:
1. Follow Jesus right now. Seems absurdly simple but it must be THE thing you must do at this very moment. You, counselor, right now choose to submit your life and desires to the one in whom you've trusted to save your soul. You, counselor, at this very moment, choose to yield to his leading in every aspect of your life. You're about to sit down and pray and plead with these teens to do this, but you first must do this. So can you pause right here...pray and listen? See what God might say to you at this moment and be obedient. I don't know if it means to pause and unplug. I don't know if it means for you to ask for someone to pray for/with you. I don't know if that just means something drastic. But i'm begging you counselor, follow Jesus right now.
2. Prepare your body for camp. Not saying you need to jump on any supersets at the moment, but what I am saying is that you'd be wise to begin training your body to get ready for camp. Start fixing that sleep schedule of yours. Lights out at camp is 12 so some of you need to work on that. But more importantly, get your body in a good spot so that you can focus on discipleship. Don't put yourself prior to camp where you're exhausted, mentally anxious, physically drained, or lustfully charged. Some of ya'll may need to fast from social media prior camp in order to get your heart right. Some of ya'll may need to get your eating habits back on track. Some of ya'll need to stay away from the bottle or the incognito modes. Whatever it is, prepare yourself - mind and body for camp so that you can give to these students.
3. Go to a bible study or church prior to camp. It would do you well to attend Church this coming Sunday morning so that you have the opportunity to worship, pray, and sit under teaching with multiple generations and have your souls filled. If you're looking for a bible study, find some other counselors and do one prior to camp. If you need a guided one, i'll invite you to CBC this Friday 7/21 for Conclave Bible study at 7:00pm. But don't counselor on an empty tank. Fill it with the goodness of the Gospel in the context of community.
I'm praying for you counselor. I'm praying that God might change you most of all. I'm praying that through this experience, He will take you through the joys and sorrows of counseling and lead you towards life.

Last Minute Preparations
Packing & Snacking
As a reminder, here are a few things that you need to remember to bring:
- Clothes (pack some extra just in case although we do provide you a camp shirt)
- Footwear: shoes to run in (whatever you don't mind getting a little dirty and wet); sandals (i.e. shower shoes)
- Swimwear: Remember, there's boating, water volleyball, kayaks, and more.
- Toiletries: yeah, no further explanation needed.
- Towels (bath and swim)
- Bedding (Bedsheets & something to keep you warm - sleeping bag or blanket)
- Bible
- Water bottle (heat index = 115 degrees) Hydrate or Diedrate.
- Snacks for campers - usually 1 drink (unless you want them to just drink water) & 1 treat (salty or sweet). Don't go too crazy here and be wise on this.
I know this is a lot but it is doable. We will provide some extras just in case someone (camper or counselor) forgets something. Also, as a way of saying "thanks" we will provide the counselors with a light snack at every counselor meeting.
