MARCH 2025 EDITION
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello Fairview Families,
I hope this letter finds you and your family healthy and happy l! My name is Dr. Brian Granger, and I am the Principal of Fairview Intermediate School. Joining me in leading FVIS is Mrs. Kelly Guistwhite, our Assistant Principal. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the families of the West Shore School District as the building leaders of Fairview Intermediate School.
At FVIS, we aim to foster a positive school experience for students, families, and staff. A strong school community is built on the active involvement of families. Your role is not just important; it's crucial in creating a school where students want to learn, staff want to work, and families want to send their children. Your involvement is what makes our school community whole.
We are excited to offer opportunities for collaboration and involvement. Through our FVIS PTO, you have avenues to be informed and contribute. We encourage you to attend our PTO MEETINGS and join our PTO Facebook page. This page lets you stay updated on upcoming events and see pictures of our new school. We are committed to making this a positive transitional experience, ensuring that every step of the way, you feel reassured and confident in our ability to make Fairview Intermediate School a great place for students to learn and grow.
Please check out our “Facts About Fairview”. It includes helpful information to help prepare you for the start of the school year.
In addition, each day at Fairview, we are excited to celebrate our Colt CODE to Success! Our CODE stands for Caring, Ownership, Dedication, and Engagement! These traits will anchor our PBIS framework and outline how we teach, encourage, support, and celebrate our students' learning, growth, and development!
If you have any questions or would like to chat, you can reach us at bgranger@wssd.k12.pa.us, kguistwhite@wssd.k12.pa.us, or call the main office at 717-774-2970.
Sincerely,
Brian M. Granger, Ed.D.

With potential for virtual instruction this winter, we wanted to send out information about how a virtual snow day will operate in intermediate school should it be needed. For daily instruction...
Teachers will post Zoom links on Schoology.
All directions, lessons, and resources will also be posted on Schoology.
Students dealing with Zoom connectivity issues should message their teachers on Seesaw.
Please refer to the attached virtual snow day schedule attached.
If a teacher cannot Zoom with students because of their connectivity or a need to take leave, they will post asynchronous assignments.
BUS SAFETY POSTER CONTEST
School districts across the Commonwealth and throughout the country will be observing National School Bus Safety Week October 20th - 24th, 2025. With this in mind, I am pleased to invite your school district to participate in the National School Bus Safety Week Poster Contest.

Thank you for your care, support and interest in our students!
BLACK HISTORY MONTH RECOGNITION AND CELEBRATION
During our February Colt CODE assemblies, 25 students volunteered to participate in a shared reading of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech. FVIS hopes to continuously celebrate the contributions of so many black American patriots who have indelibly shaped our Nation’s history.
Throughout our history, black Americans have been among our country’s most consequential leaders, shaping the cultural and political destiny of our Nation in profound ways. American heroes such as Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Thomas Sowell, Justice Clarence Thomas, and countless others represent what is best in America and her citizens. Their achievements, which have monumentally advanced the tradition of equality under the law in our great country, continue to serve as an inspiration for all Americans. https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/2025/01/national-black-history-month-2025/
