ParentSquare Launching Later This Month
Toward the end of this month, staff, parents/guardians, and UHS students will receive an email invitation to login to ParentSquare. With ParentSquare, we’ll be able to consolidate numerous communication tools in use throughout the district in order to streamline school-to-home communications. We’re planning a phased implementation of ParentSquare beginning January 2024, with full implementation July/August 2024 (next school year).
PHASE 1
Toward the end of January, you’ll be able to do the following in ParentSquare:
Activate your account and download the app
Select your preferred language
Select notification preferences (either ‘instant’ or a ‘daily digest’ summary at 6pm)
Receive communications from your school’s main office and district office via email, text, and/or app; voice for alerts (note: UHS students will receive email and/or app notifications—not text/voice)
If participating in the upcoming Softball or Baseball season, you’ll receive communications from Softball and/or Baseball Coaches
In-app direct messaging with limited staff
Access various district resources linked in the app
Important: Teachers and Coaches will NOT be using ParentSquare in Phase 1 (with the exception of Softball and Baseball Coaches). They will continue using their existing methods of communication. Thus, you will NOT receive communication in ParentSquare from Teachers and Coaches at this time.
PHASE 2
Beginning in the 2024-25 school year, you’ll be able to do the following in ParentSquare:
Receive communications from your teachers, coaches, school, and district via email, text, and/or app; voice for alerts (note: UHS students will receive email and/or app notifications—not text/voice)
Direct message teachers and coaches
Adjust notification preferences (instant or digest at 6pm)
Access various district resources linked in the app
Beginning next school year (2024-25), our entire district will be using one communications platform which means all teacher, coach, school-office, and district-office communications will be distributed using this one centralized tool. Learn More

Webster Family Connections Movie Day
On Sunday, January 21st from 1:30-3:30 join the Webster family for popcorn and a movie in the Webster gym. We will be watching Space Jams (the original). All Webster families and staff are welcome to attend. This event is for all Webster families, not dropping off students - parents need to stay as this is a family connection time. We hope to see you there!
Junior Jaywalkers Clinic
The Jaywalkers Dance Team will be holding their 4th Annual Jaywalker Showcase which will include students in K-8th grade! The students will learn a routine choreographed by the Jaywalkers Dance Team to be performed in front of their parents / guardians and the community in the South Gym on Saturday, January 27, 2024. To learn more and register, please click here. All registrations are due by January 15th.
Running Late?
Students arriving after the second bell (9:55 on Mondays/8:50 Tuesdays through Fridays) must enter the building through the front main doors and check in at the front office.
K-5 students may proceed to their classroom following being checked in and giving the office staff their lunch choice.
Parents of preschool students arriving after the second bell are asked to bring an ID to be scanned and then wear a printed badge to walk their student down to their classroom.
We ask for your patience as the office can be a busy place first thing in the morning with morning announcements and late arriving students.

Cold and Flu Season Is Upon Us
- Exclusion Guidelines / Illnesses At School
- If your child has a temperature of 100.4 or higher, we ask that you keep your child home, observe for symptoms such as sore throat, rash, vomiting, or diarrhea, and follow up with your healthcare provider. Your child may return to school after your child has been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications, and other illness symptoms are improving. If your child visits a healthcare provider, please request a note from the doctor to excuse the absence(s).
- If your child does not have a temperature, but is feeling ill and the illness prevents your child from participating comfortably in academics/activities, please keep your child home until illness symptoms have passed.
- The illness prevents the student from participating comfortably in activities/academics as observed by the school staff.
- The illness results in greater care than the school staff determines they can provide without compromising the ability to care for other students.
Visitors at UCSD Schools- Raptor System
The Urbandale Community School District welcomes and invites parents/guardians to visit schools during the school day. "Visitors" include parents, guardians, volunteers, contractors, students from other schools, UMS and UHS students visiting district schools (unless students are under direct supervision by a UCSD employee), student teachers, student teacher advisors, outside counselors/EFR, and members of the community. In order to maintain a safe and secure learning environment, visitors must report to the school’s main office, sign-in upon arrival, provide a U.S. government-issued ID for scanning into the Raptor system (or provide a legitimate photo ID and have name and date of birth entered into the Raptor system), and then receive a visitor’s badge/sticker which they will be required to wear during their stay in our schools. Visitors are required to sign-out and return the badge/sticker at the main office prior to leaving the school. (Note: Signing in via the Raptor system will not be necessary for individuals who drop-off or pick-up a student or materials in the main office.) Learn More
