As we enter our last week of the school year, we want to thank all the parents, staff, teachers, and community for the support that we have received this year. We can't do what we do without your support and we appreciate each and every one of you.

The month of May has been busy for our Geist Gators with ILEARN for 3rd and 4th grades as well as NWEA for all grade levels. The PTO provided popsicles at lunch to celebrate all their hard work. We are proud of you!

On May 10th, Geist Elementary celebrated Earth Day. It was a gorgeous day filled with planting of flowers, crafts, games and a presentation on composting. Thank you to our sponsor Hoosier Pediatric Dentistry!

Each year, the Geist Elementary PTO funds two scholarships for seniors at FHS and HSEHS who were former students at GES. We are happy to announce that this year’s recipients are Joseph Gamble and Ini Adeniyi. Congratulations to both students!

Geist Elementary’s Field Day will take place on Wednesday, May 23rd (with a rain date of May 24th). Please have your child dress appropriately to run, jump and play outside. You may want to consider applying sunscreen to your child before school. All classes will play outside and be treated with Kona Ice. Be on the lookout for an opt out form for Kona Ice that will be sent out soon.

It is already time to start thinking about next school year, and that includes school supplies! The PTO is happy to offer this service to families to make the craziness of back to school easier on everyone. Go to www.1stdayschoolsupplies.com and use our school zip code (46040) to search for Geist Elementary, click on our school, and choose the kit(s) you need. When purchasing your kit, make sure you are ordering the kit for your child’s grade NEXT year. Please consider purchasing the Bulk Items kit as well as this includes Clorox wipes, Kleenex, and hand sanitizer that are important for keeping everyone healthy! WOW! We had a fantastic staff appreciation week! The staff lounge was stocked, meals were provided, raffle prizes were handed out, and fun treats enjoyed!

Do you shop at Amazon or Kroger? If so, there is an easy way to donate a portion or percentage of your purchases to Geist Elementary. Although the percentage may seem small, the total amount back to GES adds up significantly the more people that register! These rewards programs do not cost anything to sign-up and are easy to register by using the following steps:

Amazon: Anytime you make a purchase on Amazon, go to Amazon Smile to shop at www.smile.amazon.com. Choose Geist Elementary PTO, Inc as your supporting organization and GES will receive 0.5% of your total purchases.

Kroger: Register your Kroger Plus Card at www.Kroger.com/account/enrollCommunityRewardsNow. Then, sign into your Kroger account and link your card to GES’s organization number which is GU130. Then, shop and swipe your Kroger Plus Card at the checkout and GES will earn cash! We had about 140 registered cards last quarter and GES earned over $4400 last year!
