Home Stretch...Finish Strong, Rondout! 🏁
With just 12 days left of classes, it's time to summon all your strength and determination. To our seniors, these final days mark the end of your high school journey. Cherish each moment, for it will pass in the blink of an eye. Attend every day on time, give your best, get involved, and combat "senioritis" with resilience.
To students in Grades 9-11, now is not the time to slack off. Hand in completed work, stay updated on the student portal, make-up missed assignments, ask your teachers or counselor for help, and seize the opportunity to attend Regents review sessions after school.
And to our students enrolled in night school, with only a couple classes left, every moment counts. Don't let it slip away. Lean on your teachers and counselors for support—we're here to help you finish strong!
Together, let's make these last 12 days count and let us know how we can help! 🚀

Algebra 1 Regents on June 4!
The Algebra 1 Regents Exam will be administered on June 4 at 8:00 AM to all students who are enrolled in an Algebra 1 course as well as any other students who need to take this exam on Tuesday, June 4. As a result, there will be no instructional classes held on June 4. Only students taking the Algebra 1 Regents exam will report to the high school on Tuesday, June 4.
Students taking the exam will arrive at school on their regular morning bus runs, and will be transported home after completion of the exam. Additional information regarding the exam will be shared with students. There will be No AM or PM BOCES on June 4.
Important Testing Information:
- Student arrival is 7:30-7:45 AM and report to the cafeteria upon arrival.
- Exam begins promptly at 8:00 AM.
- No student will be allowed to enter the exam site after 10:00 AM.
- Students who arrive late must complete the exam by the scheduled end time. For example, if you arrive late to a morning exam at 9:45 AM, you will only have until the scheduled end time to complete the exam, which is 11:00 AM.
- Students arriving to school after the 8:00 AM exam start MUST enter through the Welcome Center and will be escorted to testing location.
- Absences from NYS Regents exams CANNOT be made up until the next scheduled administration in August.
- CELL PHONES ARE NOT PERMITTED ON SITE! All backpacks, cell phones, smart watches, i-Pads, Chromebooks, and other electronic devices will not be allowed during the exam or during any breaks. If a student brings any of these items to school, the items will be collected upon entering the testing room; however, the school district will not be responsible for electronic or valuable personal items. All valuable items should be left at home. Per NYSED, "Test proctors, test monitors, and school officials shall retain the right to collect and hold any prohibited electronic devices prior to the start of the test administration. Admission to the test shall be denied to any student who is in possession of a cell phone or other prohibited electronic device and refuses to relinquish it. Possession of such a device will cause the student’s examination to be invalidated.”
- Students are required to be in their testing site for a minimum of 2 hours. After that, they can leave with teacher permission and 1) go directly to the cafeteria to wait for the bus or 2) if they have an arranged ride home, they are to leave campus.
- A healthy breakfast and lunch will be available in the cafeteria. Please be sure your student gets a good night’s sleep and comes prepared to do their best!

Finish Strong with Checklists! ✅
Did you know that people who create checklists complete their work 40% faster and are more productive? As the school year wraps up, juggling final exams, Regents exams, and balancing home and school life can feel overwhelming. Here are some tips to help you organize and prioritize:
1) 🧠 Do a Brain Dump: Write down all tasks in your head, including projects, chores, exams, and other to-dos. This releases cognitive load.
2) 📋 Separate Tasks: Distill your list to 3-5 big tasks for each day. Prioritize by importance (e.g., urgent and important, not urgent but important, urgent but not important, and not urgent and not important).
3) ⏰ Time Block: Schedule time for each task. Make sure time is chunked into manageable segments to complete these tasks.
4) 🚫 Stop Overloading Your List: Busy does not mean productive. Prioritize your tasks and give yourself grace. This prevents burnout and keeps you motivated.
5) 🔍 Review Your List at the End of the Day: Look back at completed tasks, cross or check them off. Celebrate the wins and analyze missed tasks to improve your next day's list.
6) 🌅 Create a Morning Routine: Start each day with a simple 5-minute routine like drinking water, eating breakfast, stretching, or meditating. This helps your brain switch into a productive state of mind.
Get it done, Rondout, and finish strong!

RVHS Students Dive into Robotics! 🤖
Rondout Valley High School students enrolled in Computer Science with Travis Buley are diving into robotics! Using engineering and coding skills, they are programming robots built with LEGO Education SPIKE kits to successfully navigate a maze designed by Mr. Buley. The goal is to construct a robot compatible with the maze, ensuring, for example, that the wheels aren’t too big and the robot isn’t too tall. The challenging part is crafting the code to maneuver the robot around turns and walls. A special thank you to the Rondout Valley Education Foundation for making this possible for our students! How cool!
