EPSD9 Transportation Traversa Update
Traversa Transportation Cards for EPSD9 Bus Riders 9/30/24
Hello EPSD9 Families,
We are thrilled to share that we have completed the implementation of the Traversa Transportation software. We have now received our student transportation cards and will be distributing them to students who ride our buses during the second week of October. The plan is to start using the new rider cards during the third week of October. During this time, students will scan onto the bus as they board (with assistance from bus drivers as needed) and then scan off the bus as they exit. While students are expected to have their student rider cards with them, bus drivers will be able to manually approve a student's ridership by locating their rider number when necessary (students will not be denied access for not having their rider card).
Additionally, there is a companion software called "My Ride K-12" that can be downloaded from the Google Play or Apple App stores. This companion software will enable parents to access more transportation information, including bus route details, when their students board and exit the bus, real-time ETA's, and eventually the real-time location of every student on the bus.
For more information about using "My Ride K-12", please visit the School District’s Transportation page on the website, and feel free to contact the Transportation Department if you have any questions regarding this change.
Sincerely,
EPSD9 Transportation Department

OSF Joins EPHS and WMMS for a Engaging Workshop!
OSF Joins EPHS and WMMS for a Engaging Workshop!
The Large Group Room at Eagle Point High School was the setting for collaborative lessons focused on more than just acting. On September 23rd, Eagle Point High School and White Mountain Middle School theatre students teamed up with Oregon Shakespeare Festival teaching artists for a workshop.
WMMS students Tempe and Alex enjoy theatre but for very different reasons. Tempe is in 7th grade and has visions of being a performer one day. She has been invited to perform this year with the EPHS students, which is very exciting!
"Tempe said, 'I feel more confident this year, and I got some of my friends to join the class, which makes it more fun, and I'm really excited about the High School play I get to be in this year.'"
Tempe would like to stick with theatre through graduation and even hopes to continue until it's a career or at least a significant part of her life.
Alex is in 6th grade and enjoys acting as just a hobby. Alex is new to WMMS this year, and he likes the social environment that the theatre class provides. Alex performed in a play in 4th and 5th grade at his previous school.
"Being new can make it hard to meet new friends, and I don't mind talking in front of people, cause I have done plays before, so this class makes it easier for me to make friends," said Alex.
Tempe believes that theatre helps her in more ways than just on stage. She feels theatre helps her with her stage fright, which also helps her when cheerleading and public speaking in other classes.
Tempe and Alex very much enjoyed the workshop and the ability to see what's possible in the future if they stay with acting.
Eagle Point High School Students Montana and Tucker also participated in the OSF workshop in collaboration with White Mountain Middle School.
Montana is a Freshman at EPHS and wanted to be in theatre in middle school, but unfortunately, it was not offered. Tucker is a Junior at EPHS and has been in theatre since transferring from Band his Freshman year.
As High School Students, Montana and Tucker had a unique situation. They had two perspectives: younger students looking up to them, and at the same time, they were looking up to the OSF performers.
Tucker enjoys that theatre feels different than other classes in school and other clubs he's participating in.
"It feels more relaxed to me, and I feel like people are respectful and supportive," said Tucker.
They both enjoy the welcoming environment that theatre provides for them. When working with the WMMS students, they wanted to provide the same welcoming experience to the middle school students.
During the workshop, WMMS and EPHS students participated in a variety of activities to broaden their perspectives and learn from the OSF pros. These styles of collaborative workshops are more engaging and cover a wider range of learning for multiple grade levels. EPHS students learned from WMMS students, and vice versa, and everyone learned from the OSF performers.
"I can watch their mannerisms and apply that to how I act," said Montana.
The workshop concluded with smiles and laughter and an overall good time. Students and staff continue to look for ways for group activities like this that include multiple schools. Be sure to check out the Eagle Point High School and White Mountain Middle School websites or Facebook pages for upcoming plays.

Farm-to-School Month!
In October, we celebrate National Farm-to-School Month. It’s a time for schools, farms, and communities to come together to share and celebrate the great work being done to promote local farm-to-school programs in our school kitchens.
Our CRUNCH event promotes healthy eating, supports local agriculture, and helps students and community members gain a deeper understanding of our food program. Throughout the month, you can look forward to finding fresh and fun vegetables in our salad bars. At Hillside Elementary School, we will be participating in a “Crunch” event on October 17th, with special guest community members.

100 Years!
In the 1924-25 school year, Eagle Point High School was formed as a one-room, one teacher, second floor assembly above the two-story elementary school. At the end of two years, the school was built that is now the unoccupied Little Butte School.
We are celebrating 100 years! Friday, Oct. 18th - Hall of Fame Night
