Career Day 2024
On December 13th, we welcomed over 50 professionals to Upper Moreland High School to participate in our Career Day. Students in grades 9-12 signed up to participate in 2 different sessions with presenters. They learned about different careers and what education was required for those careers. We appreciate all the presenters that gave up time in their work day to attend. If you are interested in participating in Career Day next year, please email Tanya Spaetti at tspaetti@umtsd.org
Some 10th grade students had the opportunity to complete the CareerScope during the career Day on December 13. If your student is planning on applying to The Eastern Center for next year, they must complete the CareerScope (students received an invitation to complete it via email).
FAFSA
Don't forget: FAFSA drops this month! The journey starts with your FSA ID
Whether you’re a student, parent, or borrower, you’ll need to create your own account to apply for, receive, and manage your federal student aid https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/
Stay ahead and secure yours now!
#FAFSAReady #FinancialAidJourney
Please access this guide for information pertaining to completing the FAFSA as well as any questions related to the FAFSA.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YNfyVMXxXIHg-AexZIq5QgfdTt60QvLg/view?usp= If you have a particular question, you can:
Call the FAFSA hotline at 1 800-4-FED-AID (800-433-3243)
Access the Federal Student Aid website studentaid.gov for chat, call or e-mail info. The first F in “FAFSA” stands for “FREE!” While there are numerous websites where students can get help filing the FAFSA® form for a fee, these sites are not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education (ED). We urge you to not pay for assistance that is provided for free at ED’s website, studentaid.gov.
Other resources:
Calculating Cost – Families can estimate the cost of various colleges via the Net Price Calculator (NPC) at collegecost.ed.gov and use the Student Aid Index (SAI) provided by College Board to get an estimated SAI.
Create a StudentAid.gov Account prior to completing the FAFSA application. For dependent students, one parent needs to also create an StudentAid.gov account.
FAFSA Completion Session- Senior Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and Student Only
January 16 , 2024, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Facilitated by a Financial Aid representative along with UMHS counselors. This evening will be a hands-on, step-by-step opportunity to work on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
CSS PROFILE
PLEASE NOTE SOME COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES ALSO REQUIRE THE CSS PROFILE. The CSS Profile is an online application that collects information used by nearly 400 colleges and scholarship programs to award non-federal aid. Some colleges may require the CSS Profile from both biological/adoptive parents in cases of divorce or separation. You may complete the CSS Profile as early as Oct. 1. You should submit no later than two weeks before the EARLIEST priority filing date specified by your colleges. Check your colleges’ information to determine whether they require the CSS Profile. A list of participating colleges is also found on the CSS Profile Homepage. https://cssprofile.collegeboard.org/
