Leicester Public Schools District Improvement Plan
Dr. Tencza would like to invite you to help with creating a vision and a District Improvement Plan for LPS. Lori Likis will be working with the Leadership Team and a team from the community (Planning Team) will be working simultaneously to create this vision, mission, and portrait of a graduate as we develop the District Improvement Plan.
Dr. Tencza is looking to have volunteers from the schools, town, and community to compile a representative group to help us with our work.
The dates of the meetings will be:
• October 7, 4:00-7:30 pm • December 2, 4:00-7:30 pm • January 20, 4:00-7:30 pm • February 17, 4:00-7:30 pm
The plan is to convene in person (at this time) and have a light supper for participants as we work through the activities.
If you are interested, please email Dr. Tencza by September 15, 2021, and she will create the committee and get back to you with any details. Dr. Tencza will try and assemble a well-rounded group of teachers, paras, community and staff members to help with the work.
Thank you for your consideration. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Tencza tenczam@lpsma.net.
School Advisory Council
A school council is a representative, school building-based committee composed of the principal, parents, teachers, community members and, at the secondary level, students, required to be established by each school pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, Section 59C.
Councils are to assist principals by reviewing the school building budget and developing the school improvement plan. Councils may also take on other responsibilities, including policymaking, as granted by the local school committee. Councils' school improvement plans are submitted to the local school committee for review and approval. The School Council will meet approximately nine (9) times during the year.
If you are interested in serving on the School Council, please email Mr. Zawada and if there is enough interest a ballot will be created and sent in a future newsletter.

The Scenario
Sam is stuck on a boat, and how he got there is not important, but Sam can't swim and the boat is capsized. To get to shore, Sam needs to retrieve a life jacket from underneath the boat so that he can float to shore. You and your partner's job is to save Sam by retrieving the life jacket from under the boat and putting it on Sam. Unfortunately, the only tools you can use to accomplish this task are paperclips. You cannot touch Sam, the boat, or the life preserver with your bare hands.
