November- TC Library Update
We Love To Read
Author Elizabeth Aranada visits our library
Author E. Aranda came to share her book on the morning announcements in early October. We were thrilled when she stayed and visited with the class who was here for their normal library time. You just never know who you might see when you come to the library. Thank you Mrs. Aranada!!!!
Battle With Heart lunch meeting
One of our new teachers, Mrs. Jones has jumped into the swing of things here at Tom Cox and is sponsoring a BWH team. What a great time everyone had discussing their book and getting ready for the next book!
Author Alda P. Dobbs Visited with our students
We were so excited to have local author and Bluebonnet nominee, Alda P. Dobbs visit Tom Cox on 10/6. She shared the back story to her book "The Barefoot Dreams of Petra Luna". We were all inspired to learn our family history and write about it. Thank you Mrs. Dobbs for coming to our school.
We had some great fun in the library during October
SORA- Free Online Books
Our Sora collection continues to grow. Students can gain access to lots of books curated by our CISD librarians by logging onto the SSO and searching for the blue airplane SORA app. SORA is supported on most devices.

Amazon- Click the link to access a growing wish-list of titles we would love to add to our vending machine options.

Donate- Donate gently used middle grade books to the library. Books in new condition will likely make it to the vending machine to be "loved" again. Books in good used condition will be dispersed to classrooms to refresh those collections. You can donate books by taking them to the school office.
What Mrs. Houck is Reading-
Battle With Heart has helped me read some great books I would have never read on my own. This book by Shelley Pearsall is no exception. It is about a middle-school aged boy who is dealing with the loss of his father. He sees a homeless man wearing a hat previously owned by his father and that sends him over the edge. He hurls a brick at him, injures the man and finds himself in a lot of trouble. The story develops as he learns about the important things in life while serving his sentence.
