ROCK'in Weekly Update
Message from Split Rock Elementary School Principal
Welcome back! I hope everyone had an enjoyable and refreshing holiday break. It has been wonderful to see our Wildcats back in the building, ready to dive into learning and growth.
This week, the weather certainly reminded us that winter is here to stay! Please ensure that your children are dressed appropriately for the cold temperatures. Hats, gloves, coats, and warm layers are a must, as our classroom teachers, along with Mr. Gangemi and Mr. Shaler, strive to get the students outside for fresh air and physical activity as often as possible. Just a reminder, students will remain indoors when the real feel temperature is 20 degrees or below.
Next week, we will begin our Winter Universal Screening. These assessments are an essential tool for tracking student progress and guiding instruction. We’re excited to see the tremendous growth our Wildcats have achieved since September and to continue supporting them on their academic journey.
Finally, after such a busy first week back, I encourage everyone to get some rest this weekend. Let’s recharge and prepare for another great week ahead at Split Rock!
Thank you for your continued partnership in making our school a wonderful place for learning.
BE AWESOME!
Mr. Kimpland

Split Rock Families,
Happy New Year! The best part of coming back to school after a two week break is seeing all of your smiling children ready to learn. Many students shared stories about their break. Students told me about traveling, spending time with family, sleeping in, going to the movies, and using tablets.
As technology and social media platforms grow there are so many different features being added. Check out this link and learn about different social media apps and platforms. This resource is helpful and informs how privacy works, minimum age requirements, how ads are shown, etc.

Join the West Genesee Culture Celebration on March 1, 2025
The annual West Genesee Culture Celebration is an exciting opportunity to showcase the rich diversity of the West Genesee district and the broader Camillus community. This special event highlights the many cultures that make up our community through performances and table displays by students, families, and community groups.
Last year’s event featured an array of contributions, including:
- Ukrainian Dance Ensemble
- Tearney's Martial Arts
- Folk and Irish Dancers
- Social Justice Coalition
- Displays on South Korean, Palestinian, and Bulgarian heritage
We want your culture to be part of this year’s celebration! Whether through a performance or a table display sharing your traditions, history, and heritage, we encourage as many families and groups as possible to participate.
For more information or to sign up, contact:
