SWE Cal Poly

Society of Women Engineers at Cal Poly is hosting a leadership training conference for high school students to learn skills in teamwork, public speaking, and engineering solutions. If you are interested in learning more and registering for the event, please attend a meeting on Tuesday January 21st at lunch in room 704

Grin and Bare It Show

Get ready to saddle up and get giddy with two improv teams in The Improv Showdown on Friday, January 24th at 7pm in the MPR at AGHS. This western themed collaboration show featuring Pioneer Valley High School’s On the Spot and Arroyo Grande High School’s Grin & Bare It, is sure to be a comedy bonanza. Hosted by senior team member Joy Avant. Tickets are $5, doors open at 6:30pm.

Basketball Score Keeper

Looking for a Job? The City of Arroyo Grande is currently hiring for an Adult Basketball Scorekeeper. Score Keeper functions associated to scorekeeping for basketball but not limited to: operating a scoreboard; posting scores and records online; delivering records to Recreation Office; providing excellent customer service to participants and officials.

We're Hiring! The City of Arroyo Grande's Recreation Department is hiring for a basketball facility attendant for the Recreation Adult Basketball drop-in class. Check the flyer for details.

Going forward, flyers will be hung in Eagle Hall, on the tri marquee and blue board in the quad, on the Softball Shed wall, outside room #912, and in the admin building window. All other posters will be removed.

~Attendance~

Make Sure to Clear your Absences

Clear Absences by 4pm Tuesday, 01/28/25. Please make sure that the Attendance Office is informed of the reason for any still unverified absences for 01/13/25 - 01/24/25. After that date, we will not be able to make any changes.

College & Military Visits

Seniors and Juniors planning a college/military visit should stop by the Attendance Office to pick up an Excused Absence Request form ahead of their visit. If approved, up to two days may be excused. Visits that will last longer than two days would require a Short Term Independent Study Contract to excuse the absence.

~Counselor's Corner~

10th Grade Parents and Students: We will begin scheduling talks with sophomores this week! This is an exciting scheduling time because 11th grade is the start of having more room in schedules to take electives, CTE pathway courses, AP classes, etc. We look forward to meeting with all of our 10th graders!

9th and 10th Grade Parents and Students: Stay tuned for PSAT 9 and PSAT 10 sign ups coming next week! We will be giving the PSAT 9 and PSAT 10 on Wednesday, March 5th.

Seniors: Reminder that you need to complete 20 hours of community service in order to graduate! Don’t let the year get away from you and then panic at the end. Please see your counselor if you need help with community service and also check out our website for more information about where and how to complete community service. Please also remember that this newsletter has community service opportunities EVERY WEEK!

Work Permits

Attention all students that plan on working this year. Please submit a completed work permit request form to Mr. Coville ASAP, or email him at trevor.coville@lmusd.org. Anybody that needs their current permit extended can stop by Room 510, or email Mr. Coville as well.
