Response Times to Communications
Largo High School personnel have 48 hours to respond to emails and return phone calls. Please allow that process to complete itself before reminder emails and escalatory measures are enacted. We appreciate your support of this process.
PGCPS UPDATES
REMINDER: ParentVue Accounts for all Families
As we prepare for this school year, one of the biggest adjustments that we will navigate through as a community is PGCPS’ transition from SchoolMax to Synergy. Beginning with the 2024-25 school year, families will now use ParentVUE, in place of Family Portal, to access important information about their students. ParentVUE is the portal that allows parents and guardians to view information about their student, including classroom assignments and scores, attendance, transcripts, graduation status and more. In ParentVUE, families can also update their phone numbers and emergency contact information and access the Online Registration (OLR) Application. A PGCPS ParentVUE account is needed to complete the required Online Registration (OLR) Application to register your student in PGCPS. This application is completed for students new to PGCPS, transferring within the county, or returning to PGCPS. You may access the ParentVUE link below:

Back to School Night Review - September 6
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the incredible turnout at our Back to School Night! Your presence and enthusiasm made the evening truly special, and we are grateful for your ongoing support and commitment to our students' success. It was wonderful to connect with so many of you as we kick off another exciting school year. Chromebooks for Freshmen and New Students to PGCPS
Chromebook have arrived! Coach ward, partnership with our night grade team, that began to disseminate Chromebook to our ninth graders in alphabetical order by last name. Our aim is to have completed this process today with the potential of some outliers. The Chromebooks arrived based on our request for more last Friday, August 30. We apologize that this process took so long, and appreciate your patience in getting these much-needed resources in the hands of our students.
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month
At Largo High School, we are excited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, observed from September 15 to October 15. This month is a special time to honor the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities in the United States. We recognize and celebrate the diversity that strengthens our school and community, and we look forward to highlighting the achievements, traditions, and vibrant heritage of our Hispanic families throughout the month. Join us in celebrating and embracing this important part of our shared history! More information will come regarding celebrations.
Invitation to Support the Largo High School PTSO
We are excited to invite you to join the Parent-Teacher-Student Organization (PTSO) this school year! Being a part of the PTSO is a wonderful opportunity to stay actively involved in your child’s education, connect with other parents, and help shape the school community. Your participation directly impacts our ability to support events, programs, and resources that benefit our students. We’re also thrilled to announce our first in-person PTSO meeting on September 17 at 6:00 pm. Stay tuned for more details in an upcoming advertisement. We look forward to seeing you there!
REMINDER: Clear Bookbag Mandate
PGCPS students at the secondary level in all Prince George's County Public Schools will be required to have clear book bags only. There will be no exceptions made under any circumstances. This communication has been shared widely with families beginning with last school year. Additionally, it was posted in the welcome back letter from August 8. Please ensure that your child comes to school with a clear book bag. Grade level administrators will reach out to you if there are issues with your child's book bag being out of compliance.
Class of 2025 Senior Sunrise Reflections
Rights and Responsibilities/Grade Level Assemblies
Students in grades 9 through 12 will soon be attending assemblies to review the Rights and Responsibilities Handbook, along with expectations for the upcoming school year. All grade levels will have completed this process by Tuesday, September 10. These assemblies are essential for ensuring that all students understand their role in maintaining a positive and respectful school environment. The handbook outlines important policies, procedures, and student rights, helping to create a safe and supportive learning atmosphere for everyone. Largo High School Cheerleaders Take to Radio
We are thrilled to announce that the Largo High School Cheerleaders were recently featured on WPGC 95.5 during DJ Akademiks' "The Night Show." Our talented cheerleaders had the exciting opportunity to showcase their new uniforms and represent our school with style and spirit. Their energy and enthusiasm were a true display of "Den Pride," and we couldn't be more proud of how they represented Largo High. This recognition is a testament to their hard work and dedication, and we are excited to see them continue to shine throughout the school year! 9th Grade

Dear 9th Grade Parents and Guardians,
I hope this letter finds you well. On behalf of the entire staff at Largo High School, I wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you for attending our Back to School Night on September 5th. Your presence and support mean a great deal to us and play a crucial role in fostering a successful school year for our students.
It was wonderful to see so many of you engaging with our teachers and learning more about what this school year will bring. We appreciate your commitment to your child's education and your partnership with us as we work together to support their academic and personal growth.
I wanted to inform you that Chromebooks will be distributed through English classes starting next week. This initiative will help ensure that every student has the necessary technology to support their learning both in and out of the classroom. Additionally, lockers will be assigned and distributed on Monday of next week. We believe that having a dedicated space for personal items will help your child stay organized and manage their school materials effectively.
If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to assist you and ensure that your child has a successful and enjoyable year at Largo High School.

The 12th grade team is led by Assistant Principal Dr. Vivian Powers, and co-sponsors Nicole Bonham and Danielle Locker. Dr. Powers would like to share with her community that more information will be coming regarding timelines for the year, and updates pertaining to senior dues and other pertinent items to ensure that our seniors have a banner year!
Language Immersion Program
We are thrilled to the beginning of our second year as an Immersion Program at Largo High School! Our program continues to grow and evolve, and we are excited to share some important updates with you.
This year, we are pleased to welcome three new teachers for our French, Chinese, and Spanish 10th grades to our dedicated team. Their expertise and enthusiasm will be a great addition as we strive to provide an enriching and immersive learning experience for all our students.
Please mark your calendars for the following important dates:
- November 13, 2024: Immersion Program Open House. This event will provide an excellent opportunity for parents to learn more about our program and engage with our team.
- November 22, 2024: DELE Test for the Spanish Immersion Biliteracy Seal. This assessment is an important milestone for our students reflects their proficiency in Spanish and provides the opportunity to obtain that important SEAL on their high school diploma once they graduate from Largo High School.
To our 9th-grade parents, we warmly welcome you to the Den! We look forward to partnering with you throughout this exciting journey.
For our returning 10th-grade parents, we appreciate your continued support and commitment to our program. Together, we will continue to build on our successes and create a supportive environment for our students.
Talent Ready
A recruitment fair will be taking place for upcoming 9th graders (Class of 2029), who want to be part of the Talent Ready Program. Information with the date and time will be forthcoming. Please begin to share this in your parent communities where middle school families want to start evaluating programs for their children next year.
COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Girls Who Drone
In celebration of International Girls in Aviation Day, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is inviting children aged K-12 and their parents to learn all about aviation and aerospace with the opportunity to get hands-on experience flying drones, simulating flight as an Air Traffic Controller, flying foam rockets, and much more!
This event is FREE, but space is limited, so we are encouraging everyone to sign up now using the link below. Please help us spread the word by share this with your colleagues, friends, family, and/or students.
