The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
The "Outsiders" is about a boy named Ponyboy, and his gang who are always in sort of trouble. They all have rough, sad, emotional, happy, and creative times together. There are two different gang groups where Ponyboy lives, the Socs and Greasers. Ponyboy is in the gang called Greasers. The difference between the two gangs is that the Socs have more money than the Greasers. Ponyboy has two older brothers Darry and Sodapop. Darry is the oldest and Sodapop is the middle child, and Ponyboy is the youngest. The rest of the gang is Johnny, Dally, Two-Bit, and Steve. They all have each others back no matter what happens.
1. Counting Stars by: One Rebublic
In this song it says, "sitting, no more counting dollars we'll be counting stars." This relates to the Outsiders from when Ponyboy and Johnny were laying in the lot looking at the stars and Ponyboy fell asleep. On page 38, it says, "I sat up shivering. The stars had moved." Ponyboy was looking at the stars and noticed how they moved so it goes along with the song when they are looking and counting the stars.

2. The Eye of The Tiger by: Suvivor
Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor represents what happened at the rumble with the Socs and Greasers. The song says, "Went the distance now I'm back on my feet. Just a man and his will to survive." In the book Ponyboy got back on his feet after the fire at the church and is fighting in the rumble. The greasers are fighting for Johnny who is on his death bed and they are willing to fight for him. They are also fighting for themselves with the will to survive. In the book on page 137 it says, "There isn't any good reason for fighting except self-defense." They will always fight that is the world they live in and they also accept the fact that they might die.

3. Lean On Me by: Bill Withers
In the song "Lean on Me", it shows a great relationship. To me this song means to have a good trust with a close friend. In the song, it says " You just call on me brother when you need a hand we all need to me body to lean on". The title of the song, "Lean on me" is a perfect way to describe ponyboy's relationship with Johnny because they acted like they we brothers.

4. You've Got a Friend by: James Taylor
Darry always left his front door unlocked just in case one of the guys got in some trouble and needed a place to crash overnight. The entire gang loved each other like family, it was closest thing they all had to a family. The title of the song is a really good way to describe the gangs relationship because they thought that they were all brothers.

5. Monsters by: Eminem ft. Rihanna
In this song, it says, " I'm friends with a monster that is under bed, get along with the voices that are inside of my head...", and this refers to Ponyboy. Ponyboy kept telling himself that Johnny wasn't dead because he didn't want to believe it. I think that When the song says, " Get along with the voices that are under my bed", it relates to when Ponyboy is telling himself that Johnny isn't dead and when Ponyboy doesn't want to believe it.
