LTSD Career Services
November 2024
Happy Career Development Month!
Dear LTSD Students & Families,
November is here, bringing with it the start of the holiday season—and plenty of exciting career-focused events! Did you know that November is Career Development Month? This month, we’re continuing our Career Café series for students in grades 6-12, featuring a state police officer (November 7), a physical therapist (November 21), and a content creator in the entertainment industry (November 26). These sessions offer valuable insights into different career paths. I encourage all students to sign up for at least one throughout our school year!
For our seniors, it’s time to polish those professional skills! Those currently taking a senior English course will be preparing for real-world interviews and participating in mock interviews with local professionals on Thursday, November 14. They'll get to use the professional, up-to-date resumes they created with Mrs. Campman for this event. **Note that for our seniors who have English second semester, they will have these experiences at that time.
We’re also celebrating Women’s Entrepreneurship Day on Tuesday, November 19, with a special trip to eight local women-owned businesses in Williamsport. Mrs. Smith’s Entrepreneurship class (grades 9-12) will get a firsthand look at how these inspiring women are making an impact in our community.
There’s a lot happening in Career Services this month, and we can’t wait to see our Loyalsock students make the most of these opportunities before we head into Thanksgiving break!

October Highlights
The senior class has been busy this October! On October 1-3, we hosted a new opportunity for our seniors called "Snacks & Apps." Seniors were given the opportunity to sign up for a timeslot in the Library to have dedicated, focused time to work on college applications and have guidance from Career Services and the High School counselors (while enjoying snacks!). We also had admission representatives from Pennsylvania College of Technology, Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania, and Lycoming College for "Instant Decision Days." Students applied to these schools for free and were told on-the-spot if they were given admission to the school. It was an extremely successful 3 days, with a total of 65 completed applications for the Instant Decision Days alone.
On October 16, we collaborated with Lycoming College and hosted a College Essay Workshop. Students learned "Chip's Tips for Crushing Your College Essays." It was another successful day for the Class of 2025!
Hard at work!
Great job, Class of 2025!

What is Career Café?
Professionals from various careers within our community will come in to discuss their career with our middle and high school students during their lunch periods (and Lancer Period for HS students). Students are required to sign up for these events in advance. They can find the flyer/QR code to sign up outside of the HS & MS office, cafeteria, and guidance area.
Some things our guests might share during Career Cafe:
- Required training and/or education
- What a typical work day looks like
- Things they love about what they do, and some things they might not enjoy about they do
- Important things students can do NOW to set themselves up for success in a similar career
WHO: Any student in grades 6-12 can sign up to attend Career Cafe.
WHEN: During student lunches with the likelihood of going into Lancer Period (for HS students only). Typically, at least one professional will visit every 2 weeks.
WHERE: Students will be expected to immediately get their lunch in the cafeteria and report to room H7 for the presentation.
WHY: This is an awesome opportunity for students to learn about different careers and connect with professionals in our community. Students will also have the opportunity to ask any questions they have about a career they are potentially interested in pursuing.
