Our first measure up in the BRAVES At-Home Reading program is November 1st. These dates are sprinkled throughout the school year to help keep students on track to meeting their reading goals. Students who meet these measure up goals will receive a special "brag tag" for their backpacks.

There are some Kirbyville Elementary students that have been "caught" reading at home! I would love your help to catch some more. Please send a photo to me or your child's teacher so they can be displayed on our bulletin board. You can contact us through Parent Square or by email.

Students will have several opportunities this year to earn brag tags to hang off of their backpacks.

PERFECT ATTENDANCE

Each month students with perfect attendance, including no tardies or early pick-ups, will earn an attendance brag tag for their backpack. September and October brag tags will be awarded soon.

BRAVES Reading Measure Ups

There are four measure up dates this year designed to help keep students on track with their reading goals. The dates and reading amounts are as follows:

November 1: 20 books (K/1) or 300 minutes (2/3)

January 10: 60 books (K/1) or 900 minutes (2/3)

March 7: 80 books (K/1) or 1500 minutes (2/3)

April 18: 100 books (K/1) or 2000 minutes (2/3)

Parent teacher conferences will be conducted by appointment only next week, November 5-8. We work hard to achieve 100% attendance and believe strongly in working with parents to ensure the students at KES are learning. We are looking forward to meeting with you.

We will have a mini book fair at KES the week of December 3. We will send home information closer to the date with times it will be open for you to come in and visit!

Kindergarten and first grade will have their musical in the spring.
