Cold Weather Gear
On most days, students will go outside at recess time until the temperature, including the wind chill factor, reaches -10 F. This makes it important that your child has appropriate outdoor attire every day. Parents should make sure that each student has what they need each day:
- Winter coat
- Hat
- Waterproof gloves
- Snow pants
- Winter boots
Please be sure everything is labeled with your student's name or initials.
Students must also have indoor shoes available at all times.
Truancy and Tardiness
A student must have good attendance to receive a good education. If you are keeping your student home, you are required to contact the main office by 9:00am with a reason which may or may not be excused. Each five (5) days of unexcused absences constitutes a violation of state law. Chronic truancy cases may be referred to the district attorney's office.
Tardiness is expected occasionally. However, it should not be occurring regularly. School begins at 9:00am and students are expected to be on time.
Field Trips
If you are interested in joining your student on any field trips this year, you must complete volunteer paperwork here: https://kpbsd.org/departments/assistant-superintendent/instructional-services/hr/volunteer/. The process can take up to 2 weeks so please plan ahead.
Substitutes
Cooper Landing School is in need of substitutes for all positions: teacher, instructional aide, special education aide, secretary, and custodian. If you are interested, please go to the KPBSD website to apply: https://kpbsd.org/departments/assistant-superintendent/instructional-services/hr/substitute-information/ Teacher substitutes need only have a high school diploma or GED. A teaching certificate is not required.

Hope School Happenings
The Pie Auction was a success. We want to send out a thank you to many of our amazing residents who took the time, funds and effort to make some amazing items to be auctioned off. This morning, I heard rave reviews about how amazing the pies tasted. Funding for our students is such an important part of enhancing the educational experience. An example is that Hope School students are fully funded for Alyeska Ski Resort each year. The students' families do not have to spend any money to allow their children this Alaskan experience.
Tiny Tots: The Tiny Tots play time has been a huge success. If you ever needed a smile, this would be the time to bring your tot and join in the fun. The little ones who come to play seem to feel right at home. They are wonderful at sharing, participating in games and just visiting with friends. Please always feel welcome at Tiny Tots time. Tuesday - Thursday from 9:00 - 11:00 AM on all days school is open.
Upcoming Events:
December 3rd: Cooking with Jeannine. Please see Eva for details.
