Celebrations from NIS this Week
We welcomed students new to the School District of Milton and Northside this week. Students were able to eat with friends in the LGA and were introduced to the student services staff and NIS administration. We’re excited to see our new students find success at Northside—welcome aboard!
Our 5th graders recently took on an engineering challenge: building and testing their very own catapults! Students worked in teams to design, construct, and test their creations, all while applying principles of physics and problem-solving. It was a fantastic hands-on experience that fostered creativity, teamwork, and a love for STEM! Great job, 5th graders!
Homecoming Week Spirit Days!
Help us celebrate Homecoming Week in Milton! We'll participate in dress-up days and wrap up the week with the Homecoming Parade on Friday afternoon.
IMPORTANT: Request from MIlton Department of Public Works
Do not park near the entrance to the Department of Public Works. Trucks are having a difficult time entering and exiting during dismissal. Please note there is a no parking sign near the driveway and those violating may receive citations from Milton PD.
Linewize
The new district internet Filter, Linewize, was put into place a few months ago. Part of the new system allows the school to get reports of dangerous activity that happens online. It is important for you to know that when searching the internet using your school owned device, certain searches will be “red flagged” and a notice sent to administration. Our goal is to protect students and meet all legal requirements about school devices.
What sort of searches get ‘red flagged’? Search terms that fall into the following categories will generate alert emails:
Adult Content
Violence/Bullying
Suicide/Depression
Substance Abuse
Hate Speech/Offensive Content
VPN/Proxy Bypass
Academic Dishonesty
Why do we have to have a filter? State law requires school districts to have a filter for all computer use.
What happens if my internet activity gets “red flagged”? Administration will hold the right to call students to the office to discuss internet use and to contact parents with questionable activity. Student safety is the most important part of this and we want to get students help who need help.
Doesn't this seem like this is an invasion of privacy? It is important to remember that these are school district owned computers and that their intended use is for learning and classwork. The student handbook specifically states that there is no expectation of privacy on district owned devices. Students wanting privacy should not use school owned devices.

Repeat Reminders
Lunch/Snack
We ask that students do not bring caffeinated beverages or soda to school. Encouraging healthier drink choices supports their well-being and helps maintain a focused learning environment.
Please ensure that students bring a healthy snack to school each day. Nutritious snacks help support energy levels and concentration.
Attendance and Change in Pickup Plans
Please communicate any student absences with the main office. This helps us keep accurate records and ensure student safety. If afternoon pickup plans for your student change, please be sure to communicate this with the NIS office as well.
