Did You Know?
An Explanation of Absences: Excused - absences are excused if parents/guardians communicate with the school office through a phone call, email or the absence request process in IC Exempt - if a doctor's note is turned in following an appointment with your student's name and date/time of the appointment, the absence will be medically excused and not count against the attendance record. There is never a requirement by us to take your child to the doctor/dentist/ortho/therapist, but if you do, we can exempt the absence. This simply means the absences don't count against attendance. If you have prior appointments, please email Jennifer.Macakanja@nbexcellence.org or bring in a doctor's note and the absence(s) can be changed to exempt. Field trips, funerals and occasionally the weather are automatically counted as exempt.
Unexcused - a student will be marked unexcused if the school office doesn't hear anything from a parent/guardian

Hello Reagan Families!
Coming soon is the start of our World Kindness Week! Students will have a different kindness challenge as well as a kindness themed spirit day to try to complete each day. Students do not need to track anything on their calendars but we greatly appreciate your support and encouragement for all to participate however they can to help spread extra kindness.
To help spread kindness into our surrounding community, Student Council has organized 2 ways to give back! The first is to donate non-perishable food items to the New Berlin Food Pantry and the second is to send in wishlist items for all the animal friends at HAWS. Collection for the donated items starts on Monday, November 11th and goes for the whole week. Students and families are encouraged to send in donations for one or both of the non-profit organizations. If your family participates, Food donations will be collected in each grade level pod and animal donations can be dropped off on the labeled tables in the Commons at Reagan in the morning during parent and bus drop-off before classes start. Student Council members will be there to help organize items, box them up, and store them until Friday, November 15th when the donation period ends. All students should be bringing home a Kindness Weeks calendar and donation information from school. Or you can click the following link to view electronically.

Family Mini Golf!
Hello Reagan Families!
Students are going to be starting their Golf Unit in physical education class and as part of that unit, we set up an 18 hole miniature golf course in the gym for students to use during their classes. New this year, we wanted to offer some family mini golf times to share in the fun of golf at a much discounted rate compared to local mini golf establishments and as a small fundraiser for the Phy Ed program. There will be 2 evenings with mini golf tee times offered on Wednesday, November 6th and Thursday, November 7th.
Mini-Golf Rules and etiquette listed below are expected to be followed at all times. Any infraction of these rules will be grounds for immediate dismissal from the mini golf course.
4 people per group - one of those people needs to be an ADULT. If you have a larger group and want to play near each other, please sign up for consecutive tee times.
Please stay OFF the equipment! The equipment is used as a golf obstacle, not a human obstacle course. If you bump or move a piece of equipment, please do your best to put it back where it was.
Each golf hole will have a putter that stays at the hole for all golfers in your group to share. Please be sure to replace the putter at the tee spot before moving onto the next hole.
Please check your surroundings before swinging the golf club to keep all players safe.
Groups must stay together and must complete the 18 golf holes in order.
If there is a group still playing at a hole, please wait patiently until they are completely finished with the hole.
If your ball goes out of bounds at a hole, pick it up and place it back into the playing area where it went out of bounds and continue playing.
6 strokes at a hole maximum. If you don’t get it onto the velcro hole in 6 hits, pick up your ball and move onto the next hole.
CLICK HERE to sign up for a Mini-Golf Tee Time! Each tee time will cost $15 which will be charged to your student's Infinite Campus account for payment. If you are late or miss your tee time, you will still be charged and may not be able to play. Tee times are limited so be sure to sign up early!
Any questions, please contact Katie Mulloy at Katie.Mulloy@nbexcellence.org
ACT 20 Legislation
Act 20 is Wisconsin legislation in support of ensuring all kindergarten through 3rd grade students can read proficiently by the end of third grade. The law was enacted in 2023 and the requirements are being implemented for the 2024-2025 school year.
The law's purpose is to provide guidance of evidence-based reading practices, evaluate early literacy skills, ensure all kindergarten through third grade and special education educators are equipped with the proper knowledge to teach reading, and document and enhance communication across stakeholders.
A universal reading screening assessment is administered to students three times per year. Students performing at or below the 25th percentile on this screener are then given an additional diagnostic assessment to determine the need for any further intervention.
If further intervention is necessary, a Personal Reading Plan is created for the student which includes goals, interventions, and progress monitoring.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your building principal.
