Niche just released its 2020 Best Schools in America Rankings and Grades. For the third year in a row, LOSD ranks first in Oregon. Congratulations to our students, staff and parents for our shared success. You can find more information here.

LOSD's communications director Christine Moses will be leaving her post in mid-September. She will be focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion work through her own company.

"Christine has done an exemplary job as LOSD's communications director that last two years," said Superintendent Lora de la Cruz. "She is following her heart in pursuing equity work. We will miss her and I wish her well."

The communications position will be posted as quickly as possible to ensure a smooth transition.

Lake Oswego School District is seeking qualified applicants for this committee, which will continue to play a key role in ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of the 2017 school improvement bond.

School bus routes were set the first week in August!

Please complete the registration form with as much detail as possible. It will take about 3 minutes. This will help us create our routing schedule for the 2019-20 school year. Call the Transportation Department at 503-387-5078 with questions. Please note that this request does not guarantee transportation. Restrictions apply to students that are open enrolled or who live within the walk zone.

Bus Registration Deadline was August 1, 2019. Access the registration form here.

Nearly 1,500 students have not registered for the bus. Bus routes are determined by registered students. Bus routes have been posted on the district website. Because of late registrations, routes will change throughout the week. Please refer back to the website often. You can find bus route information here.

We are so excited to welcome your student back to school in just a few days! It is important to us that your student with an IEP or 504 has a smooth transition into the school year. The district has partnered with the Student Services Parent Advisory Committee (SSPAC) to create a Smart Start Checklist. The Smart Start Checklist can be found here and contains important dates and information you will need to help your student prepare for the new school year.

On August 22, students with an IEP or 504 are personally invited to attend a Pre-First-Day Smart Start visit. This visit is a great opportunity for your student to meet their teachers and share with their teachers about how they would best be supported in their class. We have attached worksheets that your student may find helpful as they prepare for their Smart Start visit. Each school will let you know exactly when they will host the Pre-First-Day Smart Start visit.

Student Services Parent Advisory Committee (SSPAC) also wants you and your student to feel welcomed and supported at our school. More information can be found here.

Back-to-School Introduction Letters For Smart Start Visits

This is a helpful link to the Understood website where you can download Back-to-School introduction letters: Introduction Letter Templates for Smart Start Visits. These letters can help students and parents guide the conversation with teachers so that they get to know their students with IEPs and/or 504s during the scheduled Smart Start visits (Smart Start Checklist 2019-2020).

The District rolled out a new online verification process this summer. LOSD parents are invited to log into ParentVUE to review and update important information for their students for the 2019-20 school year. As part of the district's ongoing security efforts, the Raptor Visitor Management System will be rolled out this year. The system uses a person's drivers license to check the sex offender registry database. Please stop by your school this summer, on Wednesday mornings, to have your information input into the system. Westridge Elementary Principal Kari Montgomery will increase her support district-wide as coordinator of elementary literacy and assessment. By spending part of her time collaboratively assisting in refining the district's literacy plan and supporting literacy initiatives, she will be a resource for literacy specialists/coaches and teachers across the district with implementation. Ms. Montgomery will continue as principal of Westridge and will have former RTI Coordinator Ryann Furrer in the role of Dean of Students to support Westridge Elementary when Ms. Montgomery is collaborating across the district.

The Oregon Department of Education publishes an annual notice regarding state tests in English Language Arts and Math. Please review the Annual Notice for Statewide Tests for information regarding why participation matters, an explanation of the right to opt out, testing windows, and other resources.
