MMS First Day of School FAQ

- School begins at 8:20 a.m.
- Doors open at 7:30 a.m. Students will walk in through the back cafeteria doors.
- Breakfast starts at 7:50 a.m.
- All students will wait there until 8:00 a.m. At this time, 7th and 8th grade students will wait in the gym while 6th grade students remain in the cafeteria.
- At 8:20 a.m., the first bell rings and students travel to their 1st period class.
- At 8:25 a.m., the tardy bell rings and instruction begins.
- School ends at 4:00 p.m. Dismissal moves pretty quickly.
Where is car rider drop off and pick up?
The drop off and pick up line is at the back of MMS. Students can be dropped off at 7:30 a.m. Please do not drop students off before this time because they will be left unattended. School starts at 8:20 a.m. At dismissal, students can be picked up at the same place at the back of the school. For safety reasons, students will not be allowed to walk to the parking lot by the football field. The car rider line flows pretty quickly in the morning and afternoon.
How much does breakfast and lunch cost?
For this school year, breakfast and lunch are free to all LCMCISD students. Snacks and additional portions are available for an extra cost. Please log on to your student’s Skyward account to load money to their lunch account. There are many delicious treats that students enjoy at MMS so it may be a good idea to load money to their account before school begins.
Where can I find the lunch menu?
Lunch menus are published on the LCMCISD website. You can access the menus through this link: LCMCISD – Menus.
What if my student is absent on the first day of school?
Students who are absent on the first day of school are considered “no shows.” Email the MMS Registrar, Holly Knott, if you know this is going to happen. hknott@lcmcisd.org
What do I do if my student forgets something at home?
Unless it is essential for the first day of school, we encourage you to send it the next day.
How can I stay updated on school information?
Make sure that your contact information is current on Skyward. If you change your phone number or email address, please contact MMS with that updated information. Be sure to join Parent Square to get messages from the school, your student’s teachers, and school organizations.

Attention all MMS Families:
We would love for you to be involved in your child's educational experience. Support from our parents is fundamental in our school's growth. Parent involvement is important to us! We would love for you to sign up for the MMS PTO. We are looking to elect officers for the MMS PTO Board. Any help would be appreciated!
Attention 8th Grade Parents:
The MMS PTO sponsors the MMS 8th Grade Banquet. 8th Grade parents put on the event. They raise money and decorate for the 8th Grade Banquet. The more support from parents, the better the event will be! MMS PTO is in charge of the concession stand during MMS basketball season. We ask that each 8th grade parent help out in the concession stand to help raise money for 8th Grade Banquet. This is the main fundraiser for 8th Grade Banquet.
MMS is going 1:1
Great news! LCM secondary schools are going 1:1! This won’t be much different for MMS students because they’re used to having computers assigned to them. The great thing about having 1:1 computers is that students will now have one computer assigned to them throughout the school day instead of using a different computer in each class. We’re really excited about this and its positive benefits! Here are the details:
These computers will stay at school. Students will check them in and out each day.
Laptops have 13 or 14-inch screens.
Students will be responsible for this laptop, but insurance will be available. Students aren’t responsible for things that break during normal use. Like previous years, if damages are caused by a malicious act, they are responsible for damages. (This hasn’t been an issue at MMS because most students have shown great responsibility.)
If possible, students are encouraged to use a backpack with a built-in laptop sleeve or have some kind of sleeve/case to help protect it. You don’t have to provide protection, but it will help.
USB-A style headphones/earbuds tend work better and are suggested rather than the 3.5mm audio jack style. However, either will work.
More information to come! Our students will be so excited!
LCMCISD will continue to participate in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) for the 2024-2025 school year. All students regardless of income will be able to eat free breakfast and lunch each day they are in attendance.
MMS Doors Open at 7:30 a.m.
School Clothes Shopping - MMS Dress Code
The district prohibits any clothing or grooming that in the principal’s judgment may reasonably be expected to cause disruption or interference with normal school operations.
- Any type of clothing, hair style, piercing, accessory, or tattoo which, in the opinion of the principal or of his/her designee, tends to distract or cause a student to become a disturbing influence or tend to jeopardize the health or safety of students will be prohibited.
- Clothing must adequately cover the body. Students are not to wear clothing that is sleeveless, loose, revealing, sagging, or short. Examples of unacceptable clothing include, but are not limited to, mini-skirts, tank tops, backless apparel, jeans or pants with holes above the knee (store bought or deliberately made) or tops revealing bare midriffs. All tops must be of sufficient length to prevent exposure of bare skin during normal daily activities. One may determine if a blouse or shirt is of sufficient length by having the child raise his or her hands fully extended over his or her head. If skin shows, the garment is too short.
- All shorts and skirts/dresses must be at least 3 inches above the knee in length.
- Students may wear leggings under holes which do not meet the required length.
- Form fitting/skin-tight pants, such as leggings, yoga pants, and tights must be adequately covered.
- Students cannot wear garments with visual or written messages that are likely to cause material or substantial disruption to the school environment. Examples of such prohibited visual or written messages include but are not limited to, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, violence, vulgar or obscene language or images, disrespect for the American flag, and/or insults to race, religion, gender, or ethnicity.
- Words or symbols may not appear across the seat of the pants. Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be no shorter than three inches above the knee.
- Students are prohibited from wearing sleepwear. This includes pajama pants and robes.
- A student is prohibited from wearing any form of dress, having a tattoo, or accessory identifying him or her with a gang or cult or symbolizing the beliefs of such group.
- Clothing shall always be worn with suitable underclothing. Undergarments shall be worn in such a manner as to not be visible.
- Students may not bring blankets/pillows to school.
- Cleanliness of body is expected of all students.
- Hair should be clean and neatly groomed. It should not cover the eyes or styled in any way which attracts undue attention.
- Facial hair should be neatly trimmed.
- Shoes appropriate for school should be worn at all times and must not present a safety or health hazard. House shoes and slippers are prohibited.
- No type of cap, hat, or bandanna may be worn at any time while on campus. Exceptions would be a cap or hat that is part of a uniform at a school activity or a head covering worn for religious purposes or medical reasons.
- Sunglasses must not be worn in school buildings without the nurse’s approval.
